It seems that a large majority of the people that post here are photographers. I was just wondering how many of you are into film and film-making, whether it be your job or a hobby? Just thought I'd ask, seeing as the forum is called "..& Video" and I'm a film student :)

I work freelance for a video production company. Mainly second camera or production assistant. Also into my photography too though, hence why I hang around these parts :D

Myself and a few uni mates are starting a little production company of our own, starting with our own material and hopefully eventually be able to sell our skills to make other peoples stuff! :)

I love making short films, I do most of the live production video for my school. I'm still at secondary school but I'm slowly building up some kit. At the moment I film with a Canon MV 960X and all my sound is done with a Rode NTG-2 + shock mount + Rode 3m boom pole. I edit on Final Cut Pro 5 and it all works a treat.

I know the camera I've got is only basic but the only bad thing about it is the sound hence why I record off-camera sound.

It's only really a hobby, I know some bloody good actors who are my mates and we get together and do random films / comedy skits.

But I have done loads of filming with the BBC :D I've got my self involved in BBC Blast, BBC 21CC and a company called Ultralab, and I've done some filming at the BETT fair, being one of only 8 under 16 year olds aloud in there.

I wouldn't mind a better camera but I'm saving for a better iPod and a new lens atm lol.

*waves* Did 3 productions in college (thriller intro, doc extract and short film), and quite a bit of coverage for my friends band including a music vid. Applying to do film and tv production at Uni at the moment. I see your at Newport (iirc?), i've got an interview there on the 27th!
Helped make some wedding films aswell, and helped out of this feature: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0854679/

I see you filmed FFAF, I never knew they were from wales!

it's got video mode can record upto 640x480 the quality is excellent outside and not bad indoors too im going to buy a proper dv camera soon though

When i had that camera - the focus would make a racket in vid clips!

Back from the dead again!

Shooting a 10 minute short mid september. Got the equipment rented for two days, £300 for lights, 2 HD cams (FX1 and Z1), mics, tripods and the guy whos renting me the kit will be there aswell which helps the process along ten fold.
The film is a zombie horror film with a love interest, and of course, blood and guts! that's all I want to say at the moment :p

Hoping the weather holds out!

Out of interest how much is the Z7 per day?

And holy thread resurrection (no pun intended) :)

Not sure, I said I was looking to borrow his cameras and tripods and maybe a mic and he came back saying that he would do the cams, tripods and mics and come down aswell for £250.

He doesn't hire out kit usually AFAIK, I called him up because I did some vid editing and filming weddings for him before. Sorry I can't be more help :(

I work for a film/promo/commercials post production facility :)

Out of interest, how did you get into that?

If you guys have facebook you should be able to view some BTS stills from my short film, day two of filming today! Much more messy shoot as there will be many more zombies

Not many shots of kit, but we've got some red head lights, boom mic and a second camera.
