Wipeout HD is a high-definition remake, which includes a number of tracks found in previous games - specifically, Wipeout Pure and Wipeout Pulse - that have been remastered to a high enough quality so that the game runs at a resolution of 1080p at 60 frames per second. This will be a PSN-only title costing £11.99 on release in the UK, the download is just under 1GB.

Eurogamer - 9/10
The result is a game that commands your attention, ruthlessly hauling your eyes into the flatscreen while tickling your brain with impeccable track design and spine-snapping speeds.

At £12 you've probably already made your mind up about WipEout HD, but in case you're on the fence we whole heartedly recommend you download it as soon as it hits the PlayStation Store.
IGN - 9.2/10
As a standalone title, WipEout HD would impress, but as a download title it's nothing short of essential.
Gamespot - 7.5/10
Wipeout HD may be a rehash of other games in the series, but a bargain price and fantastic 1080p visuals should please new and old fans alike.

this game looks insane, been waiting a long time for this. custom soundtrack is a nice addition though im sure the standard soundtrack will deliver anyway hehe. i might start picking out songs right now lol :o

I think £11.99 is a very reasonable price for the quality and features in the game. They could have got away with charging £19.99.

they better be working on the fully fledged new retail disc based game because after playing this i know i will be wanting more, lol. This was only mean't to be a filler title wasn't it?......for the real thing

anyway cannot wait for this

There is a working title called 'Wipeout PS3' that will be the fully fledged retail release of wipeout. As you say, this is just a small project to tide us over.

I reckon they were using this one to get their heads around the cell technology, we can only begin to imagine how magnificent WipEout PS3 could turn out to be in light of how good WipEout HD is.

God I've missed WipEout.

grrrr didnt really want to register my cc on the ps3 store - but looks like I will have to for this as I really enjoy WipeOut and this looks fabulous

You can remove any CCs as soon as you add them, just buy then remove if you fear theft/your own lack of self control (i have issues with the latter, spent so much on the PSN lately).
