Is there actually any risk in using a can of deodorant as a flame-thrower? The flame will never seep into the can and blow it up would it?

Before you start lecturing me on the risks of using it in fights :p... It's actually for a piece of art work I'm planning on doing.

there is a slight chance if you use the can to completion iirc. (although I'm not sure due to there being no oxygen inside the can.

So best to stop before the pressure gets to low.

I hear the best place to hold the lighter is with the flame on the base of the can.

Make sure you hold it near your groin, that way you are more likely to ensure that the stupid gene is not passed on. :)

So your actually saying you have never made a flame thrower out of a can of deodorant?

The rule I always adhere to is to only do short blasts no prolonged bursts of flame lol.

Just as a thought! Surely if a deodorant can will supposedly blow up being used as a flame thrower then a lighter should be prone to exploding :p

Well actually, by my theory since there is no air in the canister, flame will not be able to ignite the inside - thus no explosion. I'm sure we all know many people who've done this before, and I personally don't know anyone who's been injured by it.

it's still best not to do it till the pressure drops too low. (if only cause the flame is crap then :p)

the rule i always stuck to was when it goes out, sqeeze a bit more deodrant out to make sure its not alight inside, and if that little squirt comes out on fire, throw it away,

I've done it loads so has my brother, we usually also throw about 5 or so cans on to the bonefire every year that we make, the explosions are great.

We've had the tip of the nozzle catch fire a few times but it has never gone down into the can, and yes, when you start hear clicking and stressing of the can, keep away!! lol

We managed to flame thrower a glass bottle so long it exploded all over the place. Flame throwered so much stuff. The good old days. I really couldn't give a **** how dangerous it was, it was fun :)
