Samsung Omnia I900 owners thread.

A tip of the cap sir! Can you guide me to that option, I went into ActiveSync but I couldn't find it.

What I'd really love is for it to only connect to Exchange/other accounts when an active wireless connection is available, so that it'd poll every 10 minutes when there is a connection and not poll if there isn't.

Start - Programs - Activesync - Schedule - Peak times as they arrive and off peak manually - You can set the times on the link at the bottom.

I got sick of mine so I have decided to bay it. Going for the iPhone instead I've already got the touch and it's fantastic. The main thing I didn't like about the Omnia was the texting - it was too fiddly!

not think you will be bettebr off with a phone with a keyboard or keypad ? the iphone aint much less fiddly

I can text twice as fast as a key phone on my Omnia now :D

The bugs are getting to me now, screen keeps dying after not using it for a while.

Annoyingly i have to take of my plastic case (which is fiddly) to get the battery out and put it back in again :o:(

i just come back from a week away with the phone and im not very impressed with the battery life

its bugging me now how much i have to charge it. .

and whilst the touch screen is more useable (ive got more used to it) i really dont see the point and find it quite gimmicky... what was wrong with keys anyway..

I remember you mentioning that yours is a Vodaphone Omnia. I've just got off the phone from speaking to a member of the 14 day returns department. My Omnia has been playing up with the same problem. The lady on the phone advised theyre currently out of stock of Omnias, and more are due in today. The most interesting thing she said was there was clearly a huge software fault with their Omnias as they are recieving a huge amount of returns - the most common problem being the phone answering calls by it self. She also said they are recieving so many back it could get to the point where they discontinue the Omnia on Vodafone.

Here's to hoping that the new batch sorts things out - its either that or they can offer me a Touch Diamond for free, or a Touch Pro for £60. Hmmmm.... Loving windows mobile + gps so has to be one of those.

mine goess off after a while but its only a standby like thing. you press a certain button to switch it back on. i set mine to the end call button i think. you can turn it off to make screen stay on too

apart from the send button been next to the delete button im having no problems at all. well it crashed when i ran a dodgy emulator but hardy the phones fault

NO button will wake the screen back up.

It always happens when wi-fi is on to and it goes to standby, it just WONT wake back up :o

I'm hoping a rom update will fix this.

GPS / TomTom updates:

1. - I have added full postcode search added to my instalation of TomTom 7.45 with UK Maps. Follow this link :http://www.tomtom.com/support/category.php?ID=1&Language=1&query=postcode&FID=9852

Download the zip archive, and extract the folder called "ZIP" - place this folder on the root of the storage card where your UK map folder is. Et Voila...!!

2. - I'm pretty sure you can get TomTom working (most of the time) with the internal GPS and WITHOUT using GPSGate if you use a baud rate of 9600 and whichever com port you have set on the 'program' tab of the External GPS Settings in WM6.1 - you get nothing when you use a baud rate of 4800.

I've tried every rate, and neither gets a lock :(

I found that once I went in to 'enhanced GPS' and did a manual update it made it much easier for it to pick up satellites.

Two questions:

1: Is there a free RDP/VNC style app around for Windows Mobile?
2: On the Samsumg 2 today screen there is a picture of the sun next to the clock. I'm guessing this is some kind of weather thing, but I can't tap it or use it in any way. What is this for?
