Windows 7 Release Date Moved Up... According To Rumors

i hope this is true, and i've read there's going to be a public beta in the next 8 weeks, will definatly be using this

i love vista, but there's something about it that i just don't like about having it on my gaming pc, i've reverted to xp64 on that for now

vista64 is what i use on my work machine, and whilst it's missing classic search (real bummer), the search bar in each folder is real handy instead of making you drill down the roots to get a file
 
Funny I've done the same that is switched to XP64 and I got to say I'm staying with it. I liked some of Vista but for gaming I see know point in it, XP blows it away and XP64 with 4GB of ram blows it even further.

As for Windows 7 I would be happy with just XP with superfetch.

Why say it like that, Win7 will be little more than a minor upate to Vista as Xp was win2k.

Don't get me wrong i'm a fanboy but lets look at the update cycle and time scales. Win2K -> XP, Win 95 - 98, NT4 - 2k

There will be nothing major here, move along :P
 
There’s no way to know that so speculations is not really a problem.

Going on the fact that Microsoft need to get back in favour with customers after Vista most people will be hoping Windows 7 will be like Windows XP as Vista is like Windows millennium.

Only tards think that.

Windows 7 will offer a few upgrades to software, touch screen and performance increase. That will be the majority of it.

What a shame for you that windows 7 is going to be basically Vista with a few addons and new gui.

They aren't going to go back to XP and reopen all those security issues and way out of date API's again...

If Windows 7 is any better than Vista which is hard to believe right now I wonder how long it will take the Vista fan boys to post how good it is and Vista sucks.:D

Say something intelligent against Vista and you might get a discussion. But you're a silly n00b who clearly knows nothing about operating systems.

With XP it took about 2.5 years for the morons to stop trashing it and realise what it actually did for them.

Ironically it's now the same mentality from the same type of people with regards to Vista and XP...

Given that Vista is the first major rewrite of some of the parts of the OS since at least windows 3.1 (and possibly earlier), it's understandable that there's some luddites.
 
With XP it also took 2 Service Pack to get it where it is (SP2 was classed as more of a new OS like 98SE was over 98 than a Service Pack like SP1).

XP-SP2 (ok its now SP3) is simply a very good OS that's had a longer life than MS ever anticipated.

Vista is very usable and good today, it still has issues (some have been around since Windows came out) but look at that trick MS played on all the haters. ;)

It has 10 to 15% performance loss to XP in 3D games, and if you really didn’t know that and use Vista as a gamming PC it is you that’s the nOOb.

Love Vista all you want my PC is faster than yours my games play better than yours and running it on XP means it goes even faster.

No it doesn't, it hasn't done for at least 12 months, and even then it was driver, not vista related.

Please at least try and keep up with the market rather than taking all your figures from vista hate sites or just making them up.

You also may as well game on a console as your on DX9C @ over 4 years old now. ;)
 
one thing W7 is supposed to have, is a modular install procedure (kinda like windows 98 setup, where you choose what is and isn't installed)


i'm clocking it as W7 from now on :p
 
Well it’s for laughs really it only started as an info post and an opinion 2 people had on XP it is funny to me how some of you guys hunt this forum, think you should call yourself “The Vista Guards” I’m sure Bill would be very proud of you. But try to remember that good old Bill made XP as well and if people like it more that’s there bag.

Sorry to bail out but its bed time so I must switch of my very fast XP machine but I will leave you boys a bed time gift.

How about you get a clue and provide some evidence before you start randomly insulting people? All you Vista bashers are mostly the same - you mouth off about how rubbish Vista is, but you can't provide sources other than what you've taken from Vista hate sites.

Vista's gaming performance is now no lower than XP's. My evidence is here. Where's yours?
