these guides. do you have to have them take you everywhere or can you go it alone?

i hate the fact that im missing out on the travelling and the atmosphere of the first game. i loved wandering the hills to find new stuff etc.

You can travel alone if you want. However, the new zone seems much larger than the old one, and the guides are awesome tbh. They also have quite good pricing, so you have to consider whether to use them or not

Looks like both are Dx9 shots to me, just the top one isnt at max details (or has some settings lowered compared to the other), as im on XP and mine looks like the bottom shot.

Well I remember why I never finished the first one now!

Bought it on Steam and have got around to playing it properly tonight.. Have cleared the swamps, speak to the guide to take me to the cordon and when it tries to load the next part, it crashes! Yay. Pretty much exactly the same thing happened to me in the first one. In that, I had to speak to a guy to get further in the story and every time I did, it crashed.. :mad:

Well, I was playing this game quite pleasently, hadn't had any major bugs and I was past half way through it. Was just finishing the Red Forest, and now, when I enter the town to the north of Red Forest, after going to the army warehouses for the radio stuff, my game freezes at the exact same point each time and crashes to desktop. So I can't continue. Bloody brilliant.

has anyone heard of a 3rd patch yet? i've been looking online but could not see anything? Mine is broken with the new patch and i'm NOT starting again until it's fixed now!

It will never win any official awards as games are judged on the state of their release. In a couple of month’s time I do agree that there is a very good chance that it will be the best shooter of the year. That is when I will continue playing when all the scripting mission bugs are sorted out. I am happy with performance and stability apart from the 2 hours of gameplay I lost due to corrupted saves.

Runs a lot better on the official 8.9's for me, lot less laggy with sun shadows on maxed out Dx9, seems playable now.

Anyone else having issues with asus xonar cards and cs?

I get music but no audio, as in gun sounds and wind and such since the last patch

Still runs like crap on my rig as well. Real shame.

Nail on the head, here. As my friend put it, it's the best "crap" game he's ever played, it's just too buggy to be considered great game material, and that is what holds it back. You could argue that it's glitchyness gives it a certain charm, but if the bugs and quirks were all ironed out, it would be such a superb game.

The savegame issue(s) don't help it's cause, either.

Yeah, I have a D2X and if I select anything other than software for audio I don't get gun sounds or voices or anything. Quite annoying.

Is that possible? I'm pretty sure the wet surfaces, which the second screenshot has, is only available if you are running in DX10 mode? I could be mistaken though.

I haven't read all the other pages in this thread. But I have been playing the game, its been ok apart from a few crashes. I then patched it to the latest version, now it won't accept any of my saved games? Does this mean I have to start the game all over again? :mad:

anyone find the vegetation draw distance like shrubs and bushes is low? I find that its drawing all the veg only 50-100 yards away froim me as im walking, so hills and fields look bare until i get close.

i have everything on max .

Same here, I thought it was something to do with my card but apart from the odd pause for a mscnd, performance is fine (30-60fps) I have everthing maxed but the veg does not seem to draw into the dist. This is a good game but is bugged to hell, I guess this prob must be another fault to add to the list.

i also get the micro pauses , it coincides with disk loading icon. doubt ram is full as not every time its loading from disk that i get the pauses, but every time i get the pauses there is disk activity.
