Splitscreen Gaming - How Important?

Because its infinately more fun to all play in the same room.
Exactly. I know internet and LAN/system link multiplayer is fun and all, but I honestly can't believe people prefer it to splitscreen. Nothing beats your friends actually being there, right next to you. Give me Bomberman with my mates over Halo 3 online any day.

Very important to me. Give me split screen over online any day!

In an ideal world most games would have both as I reckon that's the best way to play but definitely splitscreen is more important than online play for me in most games.

The demand is still there, we only have to look at the Wii which owes its success in no small part to its local multiplayer offerings.

Id rather buy two screens, two xboxs and two copies of the game than split screen.

Split screen on anything other than a 100 inch screen sucks, fact.

Aye, i'm not a fan of split screen either.

Split screen makes zero difference to me, I play online only and have NO REAL FRIENDS!

What are these creatures known as friends? I know very little of them

I hate the way it's vanished in a lot of games. It's annoying the way when my friends and I are relaxing and playing games on a Friday night before we go out, we're all taking turns! We all used to be able to play at once, now consoles are twice as powerful and we have to take turns! It's rubbish!

I think it's made all the more frustrating by Bungie doing it pretty much perfectly (in an ideal world I'd like the options of bots) Its very frustrating going to another FPS and not being able to do co-op/split screen multiplayer.

It really depends on the game, FPSs seem to get away with making everyone playing squint, but racing games usually get ruined as everything is so cramped. I like games where everyone plays on the same screen, N+ is a very good way of doing it, for example.
The Motorstorm 2 demo has vertical splitscreen which works surprisingly well on my 40" LCD :)

Timesplitters 2 and MASHED :D:D:D:D + 4 mates around the PS2 =

BEST GAMING OF MY LIFE.

Online is ok, but much rather have some good split screen games to play with real friends rather than random foreigners or screaming racist americans.

Mashed on the PS2 was always a winner with mates round. Fantastic game only beaten by Speed Freaks on the PS1. Good old speed freaks, we used to play that for hours. Pro 2 on 2 still a winner.

You sure you arn't my mate alex :p

I never had a PS1, and never needed it as was always round on his. Speed freaks was amazing and looked soo pretty, and I think i actually preferred it to mario kart.

But with mashed I got pritty slick at it, so my drunken mates at uni would gang up on me, so 3 v 1. Still managed to take em down most of the time, learning the tricks really helped out. Especially avoiding missiles and driving the wrong way down the polar level in reverse so you never dropped off the camera screen :D

I still play RB6 :Vegas via splitscreen in the evenings with the Wife if the mood suits.

I got fed up of playing it online after the abuse you receive from 12 year old Americans who thinks swearing makes them 'hard'.

it used to be important, but now I live with my GF I've only xbox live friends..... :(
Get her playing something she might like. One of the best things about splitscreen stuff, especially co-op, is that you don't have to both be gods at it like you often do online.

Haha, that's genius, why did we never think of that? Mashed was pure awesomeness.
