*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

anyone haveing log in problems with an error in the background saying Authentication failed? program has to exit?

the problem happens just as it says Locating battles at the start!

ment to be a serious problem with War and BT users!

annoying as hell cause during non peak times its fine but 6pm to 12am its lag hell and cant log on ffs!

Bought my copy earlier, been patching for an hour and a half now and its only got 11megs to go. :D

Reckon I'll go either Squig Herder or Maurader.

Edit: Oh wait, nope. Its fully patched! :P

patching up from beta took no time thank god, only good thing about the signup / reg process so far imo.

im finding graphically my system is unable to cope - but then it is a rubbish spec. if memory serves, 3500 amd, 1gig of ram and xt800 gfx. this game deserves better people! dont play good games on econo spec pc's

Anyone else having trouble with the character faces in the game? I appear to be able to see into their heads, which is rather unnerving as I can see transparent bits near their eyes and mouthes. They look like their heads have been mutilated because there's just teeth and eyeballs floating seemingly in mid air. Anyone got any idea how to fix this?

So, there are no official forums, no numbers at all to call for help, and for some reason they've completely removed the account login area from the euro website for no apparent reason at all?

I got bored, figured i'd download the game from d2d, and now, I've already got an account, i made years ago, due to the not normal password setup my standard password doesn't work and i can't for the life of me remember the password, but I can't change it. The whole setup just misses basic things, like a little box under login with the game saying forgotten password with link to change it. The website is really really badly done and they disabled the account login but failed to mention it anywhere on their own site, which with lack of forums doesn't help much.

Bit peeved at the mo, don't really want to open a new e-mail account just to be able to login to a single game. Seen people on other forums having issues of validation of box code taking in the 2hours plus range at the moment, which is another bit of a joke.

Considering there are more than likely well in excess of half a million people getting the game today and trying to get in i think mythic have done perfectly fine.

Launch has been way smoother than other mmo's WOW was a disaster at launch..

Bought this game and jumped straight in, virtually blind tbh.
I just felt the need for a new MMO and as Conan has been getting slated, i went for this.

Anyway, only played for < half hour.
Initial impression, specifically the look - It is a WoW clone.

Hopefully i will find some originality in here as i start playing.

boo hoo, thats all i see when people talk about mmo's, WOW. Frankly Lotro was launched smoothly as anything. I don't care if you disable login for a valid reason, but it would take in the region of SECONDS to add a post in the news to SAY they've done this and give an idea why or when it would be back. I don't care if something is not working, i very much do care if somethings not working and they can't be bothered to say anything.

Lotro has had problems, but guess what, the launcher tells you why the servers are down. THe official forums with instant access to support someone will post a thread on the status, and a reason, and when they expect to have it fixed. Those are very cheap, very basic, very easy things to implement, and based on say WOW having a joke launch, and being able to learn from it, other games should know how to avoid it now.

Unless you login all the time you wouldn't be aware there is a login box on the front page of their website, so people are looking for a way to login, which all their knowledge base crap tells you is possible, without knowing its been removed.

Then again isn't the point of a open beta to have so many people playing you know the various systems, login, servers, authentication can deal with the number of players fine.

But like i said, a 2 second new item with a single sentence saying login isn't working, thats all I ask, doesn't seem to much.

Does this make all reviews useless ? it's good to get different peoples views on things.

As a seasoned mmo player how do you rate war ?

Hmm, well actually I do find all reviews useless :) , I usually find that they are so slanted by personal opinion that its actually nigh on impossible to tell from a review whether or not you would actually like it. I much prefer first hand personal experience than a review. Personally I think WAR is excellent, but my boss at work (who has also been playing MMOs since 1997 , he started around the same time as me) , is very into PvE and dungeons etc, and he doesnt like WAR because of its low PvE content, lack of raiding and heavy slant on PvP. So although I can say I think its excellent, with the potential to be one of the best I've played in a decade, that person right next to me might think its god awful. Its why I never recommend people to buy a game based on my opinion.

I think its a great game, with the potential to be even greater. I dont rate it as highly as UO in the late 1990s, but then again I very much doubt I will ever find an MMO as good as that was.

Currently I put WAR potentially as the 2nd best MMO I've played (still need time before I can definately give it that position), just ahead of Daoc. My personal top MMOs would potentially run UO, WAR, Daoc, WoW. Then again, I'm big on PvP and totally adored Daoc (pre-ToA), and in an MMO world which seemed to be increasingly becoming about grinding factions and repeatedly doing dungeons to get an epic piece of loot and stand around in town showing it off, WAR (and a return to my Daoc days of pvp/rvr'ing) is a breath of fresh air for me.

I had my first venture into proper rvr tonight, there was a massive skirmish going on right next to the greenskin warcamp in mount bloodhorn. Unfortunately my fps tanked more than I did so I gave up. Not sure if it was lag or performance issues. I did have all spell effects turned on which could have had something to do with it.

Anyone got any tips on how to keep things smooth during big rvr battles? Anything I should turn off, tweaks etc?

My rig: A64 4000+ @ 3200mhz, X1900Xt @ 708/810, 2GB RAM...maybe its just not up to it?

Must be you, looks nothing like WoW and plays nothing like WoW. Its more DaoC thank anything.

Me too :), although lvl 11 atm.

Engineers are awesome in group pvp especially once you get the barbed wire ability so you can run away when they get near you :D

Haha cool :)

Im lvl 8 now, just logged off.

Only trouble at the minute is im not seeing any kind of general chat. Is there one?

Also the couple of groups ive been in havent exactly been the most sociable people!

As for Sinny saying its nothing like wow.. to be honest it has its similaritys. It plays like wow in its movement and style.

but first impressions are... im gonna get hooked. dang! :(

I have to say that I'm in agreement, although not a total clone it seems that this, WoW and LOTRO are all essentially the same thing, Instead of being impresssed in the opening hour or so it felt like something I'd done thousands of times before with slightly differing interfaces. Tedious for now, might give it another try when I'm not quite so tired.

The game really needs a general chat for the public quests, I can't get any done because I'm unable to find enough people to do them with, especially in the dwarf area.

Oh and agreed about people being unsociable, I ask people if they wanna group up to do quests and I just get ignored!

Anyone here got the WAR CE???

I bought the WAR (pre order box) of Ebay ages ago. This is the CE version.
It contained the Open beta key, Early access key and the bonus ingame items.

Though I don't seem to have ANY of the CE items like the exclusive heads etc?

Anyone here with the CE have anything else in there CE box? or was it just the preorder box containing the 3 keys?

thx
