Crysis Warhead - Gone Gold

Can someone do some quick tests on original Crysis and Warhead if they are able - especially quad users - to test the performance diff when setting affinity for the game to one core?

anyone found a way to disable the auto ammo pickup? i really dont like it but dont fancy playing it through on delta just for the privilege

It'll be in one of the configs for the difficulty levels I would have though...just a matter of finding it.

Now add some AA :)

What system specs by the way?

Edit: the leaves on palm tress look ugly compared to orig crysis.... not that it really bothers me. If the game is fun and runs smoothly (and consitently) then I can live with that :)

I stayed up last night and completed the game. I started of with setting at Very high (dx10) but then later on in the game towards the end it started to slow down way to much so I went down to High and completed the game like that.

I just did some testing, and for those saying there is no difference or minimal difference between dx9 and dx10 this is not true. The lighting is so much better in dx10. The quality seems to stay the same, but lighting is a lot lower. If you go near the water and take shot of the sun and look at its reflection/look at a tree you will see them come to life with dx10.
When it comes to frames. There is a quite abig diference from dx9 to 10. I saw minimum 5 frames and upto 15 frames more. I have a Q6600 @3.6Ghz and ATI 4870 @ 800 core and 1000 memory and play @ 1920x1200.

I have to say I really enjoyed the game. I think I completed it in like 4 hours or less but that was me rushing through the game and not taking out every soldier. I think if done enjoying and taking your time it will take minimum 8 hours to complete. I am off to play it through again, this time I will kill everything. I estimate 10 hours+

I had to choose DX9 Enthusiast for now as if I choose DX10 I get stuck on 60HZ and have these issues :

DX10 is stuck to 60HZ and that's on a CRT, you can force it with Refreshlock if DX9 (weird as you can force both in Crysis).

I get a sore head and my Menus are hard to nav as the mouse pointer does not line up with the buttons I'm trying to press (this is due to the HZ).

seems liek a restart has fixed my problems
running it at on 16aa and full enthusiast settings with motion blur off. doesn't drop below 30 and looks really pretty.

Have to say its a awesome game, the gameplay is better imo, the vechials the guns are much better, also the multiplayer is a lot of fun.

Be even better when the custom configs and mods come out for it :)

It'll be in one of the configs for the difficulty levels I would have though...just a matter of finding it.

thanks i found it, in the config folder there was a file for each difficulty setting, changing the parameter g_difficultyLevel from 2 to 4 gave me all of delta's interface changes without effecting the AI or health, it also lets me pick up ammo manually so im happy :)

gonna go play some now!

tried to run the game with dx9 and 1900x1200 , jerky as hell , now put the res down to 1680 and game runs great , with enthus. settings although i am getting chugging shuttering sometimes

Okay Ive played for a while now. The performance on Enthusiast is a lot smoother on my card at 1680*1050 than on Very High in Crysis. Its almost playable.

BUT it is clear that the graphical quality is lower. Draw distance is noticable worse than in Crysis (Very High) and I think the textures are worse. The draw distance is particularly annoying as when you walk on a path, you can see rocks on the ground appearing in front of you. This is for stuff which is only about 20m in front of you. If this is how they "optimised" crysis then I am hugely disappointed. In addition, you lose the beautiful cliff faces. They arent as good in warhead.

Also, I don't want to install Gamespy Arcade dammit. How do you prevent it prompting you about it all the time? This is for Crysis Warhead, I havent got round to downloading Crysis Wars yet. In addition, why does it install Punkbuster for Warhead? I've uninstalled that already. If Crysis Wars requires it, then it can install it on its own. I don't need 2 punkbuster services running for no reason whatsoever.

edit: draw distance can be fixed by editing the cfg files in the cvar directory. I've done that with help from someone on another forum and performance is very similar to the original crysis now.

Since other people have confirmed my intial complaints, here are the cfg edits needed to fix draw distance.

Here are the fixes thanks to solaris17
