Buzzing Noise When Under Load?

Alright guys n gals.

Have googled and searched on here which has turned out some similar results but the solutions seem to vary.

Recently my system has started buzzing when under load (Games), on desktop it is fine. I understand it is current/volt related but its VERY hard to tell whether its coming from my 8800 or my PSU as it seems very audible at each... (Ears right up next to them, both sides and from back)

The solutions seem to be RMA the card and/or replace the PSU or simply put up with it. Some went through countless cards from various manufacturers each time the buzzing still occured, some claim the noise just "happens" and its perfectly fine (unless anything obvious occurs such as artifacts or system shutdowns) and others have found the noise ceases after fitting a new PSU.

My system specs are below (minus the 2x500gb hdd's) so surely i can't be drawing enough power to stress the mighty HX620?

Any ideas?
 
Sadly no :( not able to test any other graphics card or PSU nor do i have another system to try them in.

I removed 4 of my 120mm fans (to ease the load? lol) and to get my head closer in... The noise is much louder from the 8800 than the PSU, it seems to be more of a general sort of noise from the PSU area, not as loud etc
 
Is it a buzzing/crackling noise that alters in pitch/frequency if there is 3d onscreen? Sounds like you have an insect inside your case?

If so, I have the exact same thing. Tried different manufacturer variants of the card but it does the same thing.

I gave up chasing so I just left it, word is, that its not a problem.

I have an 8800 GTX OC1 (BFG)
 
Yep, 'tis indeed. I troubleshooted to check for anything like that (all this talk of enabling VSync supposadly "curing" it).

CSS *stress* (lol, not much of a stress tbh) test it remains a relatively constant pitch.

COD4 Running around at different parts etc it vastly changes, like an insect as you said. Very strange how it relates to performance of whatever APP is running to what noise it emits.

Yeah i have done, its the first thing i do really, re-seat, triple check all connections etc appreciate your help though bud.

EDIT: Just spoke to another 8800 owner, although he has the G92 512GTS and his has done it for quite some time, all things point towards it being just "one of those things". :(

Believe me bud... just accept it. I spent weeks chasing this to no avail and I highly doubt you will solve it.

I tried many many things, short of replacing the PSU itself (which I believe could be the culpritt).

Which PSU do you have out of interest?
 
Must be a capacitors, one of my old AMD motherboard did this, was a constant squealing like it was about to pop, was told it was normal and capacitors can do this.
 
Yeah i know the script, pcs are fine until something weird things or problems occur eh! lol

Already had to strip the system 3 times to fault test and replace my mobo! PAI!

Yeah of my limited knowledge about electronics i was aware certain parts have their own resonating frequency and for whatever reason some just do it and thats that... Always best to be sure and safe though eh! ;)
 
I had this once, then i upgraded my PSU and it stopped. So it was either a dodgy capacitor in the PSU (Strong Chance) or it was something the pSU was doing to create the sound elsewhere....
 
Was a problem starting? in what way?

Been reading up some more MASSIVE forum threads and it appears that no one seems to have any joy, some have tried various mobos cards and psus, mixing and matching. Some have pinpointed it with resting a toothpick on various components which stopped the physical vibration of some parts and what not... very very weird one this :(
 
I suppose i shall just wait to see if any problems occur, as everythings fine atm. Ran that ATITool 3D Cube does the weewooweewoo sort of thing as well (relating to framerate etc). Only had the p5q deluxe a week as well so could just need "ran in" so to speak? lol
 
I am having the same problem but with a 4870 x2 i have changed the card for 3 other manufacturers of 4870 x2's, changed the motherboard, PSU tried outside of the case its a weird fault. I have just posted a support note on ATI's website to see if they have a solution.
 
Well.. sods law. During COD4 there it sort of froze. Heard people talking on vent fine for about 40 seconds, helicopter ingame sounded fine as well (no looping) but my monitor had went blank and into standby. Had to hold the power button in to reboot :(

Im under the impression if it was a power issue, the system would've just switched off completely? So with the graphics feed deciding to switch off like that does that mean its most likely the graphics?
