*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

anyone been able to get into the gates of ekrund?
ive sat in the queue thing for hours now and not had anything pop up or alert me to go in anywhere, or am i doing somethign wrong? :p

So, how good is it?

Might give it a shot tomorrow.

Mini-reviews appreciated. :D

Has the same simple to pick up style of wow, but with a much better push on PVP.

graphics are like updated WoW, UI is easy to use. Maps are good... erm...

Its bloody addictive. Ive made 3 characters since yesterday. Each one with about 4-5hrs played on each one.

Ive had to turn it off now, dont wanna let it take over me much more tonight!

Combat any good? In videos it looks kinda stiff and clunky...I fancy a melee class as well!

I am really enjoying it. The PQ's and PVP is a real change from WOW's grind to 70.

Just wish I had more time to play it. Going to have a real bash with it at the weekend.

I've never played a mporg, probably got that wrong and don't even know what it means lol, but I am getting bored with my gaming. Wondering whether to take the plunge but don't like the idea of a monthly fee. Should I try this or something like Medieval Total War? Both are making me curious.

The combat is pretty smooth to be honest. its a bit clunkier than wow. But its still not bad by any means. Animations arent perfect. but nothing to worry about :)

Its got some great ideas in play. Public quests give you influence.. which you can max after repeating the public quest a few times.. you then trade the influence for 3 tiers of items for that zone.. then you go to the next chapter.. do a bit more public quest.. and aim for the 3 tiers of items there too. Its good fun.

makes you play for ages without getting bored lol

These public quests. What if there are only 1 or 2 other people doing the quest? Does it make it too hard to complete?

Yes for most of them, I was involved in a public quest the other day and we couldn't complete it with even 10 people.

Which imo will make the whole system useless. When the game is six months old you'll never be able to do them for lack of lowbie players. It is bad enough now on low population factions.

Not really useless, thats a bit like saying that no MMO should ever have lowbie dungeons with end bosses in because when the MMO is 6 months old there wont be enough lowbie players to kill the bosses in the lowbie dungeons.

you get pretty nice gear from grinding influence in these quests. you don't have to complete it thats the idea.

Their are open groups so if you fancy doing a PQ then you can just use the Group search function, check what groups are doing PQ's and join them instantly. Its basically an outside dungeon thats easier to get a group for.

a lot better than trying to find a group for a dungeon and waiting around for people to mess about, You cant really Ninja on PQ items because its an automatic rolling system which is randomly generated and you get a bigger roll if you have contributed more to the overall damage/healing.

a lot better than dungeon's imo.

An outside dungeon is slightly overstating it, these aren't difficult boses(so far), to be fair I've not done much beyond the first area but the PQ's are just so ridiculously easy, haven't found one you can't do with 6 people..... yet.

But they are just so, basic, the whole gameplay, up to where i am just seems so utterly basic and boring. Hopefully it should improve but up to now it just feels like spoonfed drivel with no story. Even the basic quest stories become irrelevant as say with a Lotro or WoW reading quest info for clues and searching for things becomes quite difficult, but the, so far, very small area's, nothing far in terms of time to get to quests and being told exactly where they all are. The problem is that difficulty finding stuff in other MMO's makes it feel like you're exploring/adventuring or whatever, it gives you something to do and makes you read the story and get more involved, Warhammer just feels utterly childish and dumbed down so far.

Think server just went down, forgot the name of it tbh, but most of the "scenarios" aren't exactly exiciting and in general there seems to be a mahooosive destruction population with lots of much higher level characters and the order has nothing. I've been in maybe 15-20 of them and I think we've won twice. All that can even out, player numbers, character levels and so on, but after it all, not incredibly exciting gameplay and boring area's won't change.

The thing I guess I'm not liking most is lack of attacks, or options, theres really no different ways to attack, sword master, you're spoon fed an attack chain with no choice. Ranged with arrows, slow bow and 1 maybe 2 shots at range with no option to fire up close and a single close combat attack(thats one i just started though but it doesn't feel as fun as basically, hunters do in other mmo's). Pet's fairly damn useless for a game aimed towards RvR so liondude is out the window. War priest has can run in and pop heals before he gets in to have essentially a massive health bar, but the targeting, defence targeting , its very ackward to play in combat as you can't just heal if needs be, which isn't bad, ,you won't get shouted at for putting your hammer in, but shouldn't be so clumsily controlled and some utterly pointless attacks, a 1% aoe heal that does maybe 2% damage, why, just why?

While i have played it, and its not so much fun as interesting because its new thats got me playing. I'm waiting for that moment where it gets fun, or I find a fun alt to kick in but it seems less and less likely.

Are spawn times so ridiculously weird, and aggro distances because of the numbers they expect in newbie area's in the early days, or is this how its supposed to stay as it seems utterly retarded, I mean, ridiculously retarded.
