I've got a couple of job interviews lined up next week but can't decide on which suit to wear to give a good first impression.
I've got three to choose from: grey, black and black pinstripe. Will need to lose a couple of inches around the waist for the grey to fit but it's the only expensive one. The black stripe is cheap but fairly corporate looking, trouser are a little snug but fit. The plain black is another cheap one but fits perfectly, may be a little sombre for an interviewthough. Which to choose?

Grey suits > Black.

Plus losing a few inches is rarely a bad idea.

I guess it depends on the type of job though, and what they actually look like :p

You won't be able to lose a few inches by next week =\

Black pinstripe, black shoes and belt, white shirt, tie with some colour in it.

I love working in IT. I've never had to buy a suit for an interview.

My most recent one was shirt and tie, and I start on the 9th so that must have been acceptable.

My previous one for my current job was shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops! True it was over the phone because I was living in Cyprus at the time and the job was back here in old blighty... :p

My job before that, back in 2002, I wore a t-shirt and combats to the interview, and I got the job then obviously.

Us techies aren't expected to be smartly dressed. Just to know our stuff. :)

i have always worn a suit to an interview and the few people i have interviewed have always been in suits.

To me even a cheap asda "school uniform" suit shows they have made a real effort

Most of the people I have worked with don't wear suits to interviews - in IT!
All have trousers and shirts or whatever, but rarely see people having them in suits.

For mine, I do wear a suit, its the only option for me tbh :]
