Crysis Warhead & 4850CF woes

I had a crash yesterday when I quit Crysis Warhead, it was a BSOD (which was red on the main screen and blue on the other) citing a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I know 100% my PC is stable (ran Memtest and whatnot before) so I put it down to heat from the 4850s, so put the fan speed up.

This morning, ran Crysis Warhead, played absolutely fine for a while, no problems, ran perfectly at 1920x1200 and enthuiast all around. Then went to quit game and bang the same BSOD. Ran a memtest again, no problems. 3D Mark onloop? No problems whatsoever.

To me it's either

A) Crysis Warhead
B) ATi

Anyone else with similiar?

Getting annoyed with this now...

I relaxed the RAM (ie slower than stock) and no difference.

The fact it happens at the same place and my PC has always been stable (through stress testing and general usage) led me to think it's either them 2 that causes it.

Annoying.

your on the 8.9 drivers?

this is a driver issue if you are as i get it too, if i play for 30 minutes its fine, if i play for 2 hours i get that same BSOD error, you will see that it says it's the ati driver.

Yup, always the ATi driver. I refuse to believe it's the RAM or CPU. For me it's the cards or the game.

Do you only get it in Crysis Warhead or other games?

only warhead, and only since i updated to the 8.9's aswell.

That seems to be my experience as well.

I am glad I am not the only one then. It seems like ATI's drivers fix one thing then introduce another problem.

I don't ever remember having these issues when I had a X800XL, 2900XT, 3870 or the HD2600XT in one of my other PCs. What's going on with ATi's driver QC these days...

i know, i never had any problems what so ever until i got a x1950pro. first time i ever had a corrupt ati driver from overclocking.

since then i have had nothing but driver problems from corrupt drivers to .INF and BSOD's.

pretty sure it all started around when amd bought ati.

Thinks it Warhead as if you change the graphic setting more than 4 times it crashes to the desktop for me everytime (on either 4850 or 4870).

Seems to have a pretty bad memory leak as everytime you change settings best to quit the game and load it up again or you get very laggy gameplay.

Lots of other bugs as well, think the game needs patching.

Patching.?? <CHOKES> Need a ruddy miracle more like..
I tried running it on 1280x1024 with 2xAA and the game suggested GAMER mode which i went with.
I have 3GB Ram an E6300 running at 3Ghz currently and a 4850 running 700/100 and the max fps i get.??? 32fps freacking kidding me :(

I didnt buy the first game as i was told it was badly coded, saw this at around £15 with supposed engine enhancements and thought great lets try it.. Biggest mistake ive made this year :(

Try DX9 mode as it defaults to DX10 on Vista. But yep the FPS is poor Crytek lied again about this.

I guess I'm just another chump who bought the first game and guess what..

Its was cack...

I saw Warhead with its 'engine enhancements', bought it and guess what....

Its cack.

Again a badly coded piece of turd is shoved out for the mass public to become revenue generating beta testers while the Stevie Wonders that coded it in the first place write patch after patch after patch trying to undo their terrible work that should have been fixed before release.

And who's to blame.....me for buying it......grrrrrrr...!!

Completed game

Temp fix: run in windowed and Ctrl+alt+del to quit.

The last scene before credits looks absolutely incredible at full pelt, it's the most graphically impressive scene I have ever seen in a game..

yep, red screen of death on exit for me also, on the 8.9 drivers and Vista 64 bit. Not the end of the world, but not ideal either.

Try using CCC mod. I'm using it and I've set it to level 6 (highest.) The game averages 30fps or so and looks better than enthusiast. I get around 20-25 fps using standard enthusiast settings.

The sharp shadows in that mod look great too......

Best FPS I've played all year, its jaw dropping.....

Is this just an issue with ATI cards? I was thinking of getting this game but I'll not bother if it's really buggy.
