Now if you assume she is stood on her left foot; in the next frame it's clear she is moving clockwise. However if you assumed she was stood on her right foot, then it's clear from the next frame she is moving anti-clockwise

And if you assumed she was stood on her head?

I see it there, but when it's moving I simply can't see how she is standing on anything other than her left foot! This is killing me!

Try darting your eyes from side to side over the image - I find I can swap the rotation at will then.

The only way you can tell without lighting information is via parralax, but if it is orthographic, you have no chance...

Just this morning I finally managed to get her to spin clockwise, but looking at the shadow always sends her back going anticlockwise.

With the Ballerina, I find it really hard to get her to 'spin' anti-clockwise, but I can do it... then as soon as I shut my eyes or look away and back again she goes back to spinning clockwise.

I've no idea how it works but it's clever.
