Realistically can you PvP from the start?

I played original EQ with a 62 shammy at the end. Raided higher end (I was the 'baby' shammy of the guild) but ever since then I've been bored stupid by every MMORPG (including EQ2, AO,Vanguard, etc) because it's been a case of whack-a-mole.

I've got zero interest in just playing whack-a-mole or quest-by-numbers. What I want is something like ET:QW where I can login/logout as I need.

Question is - is this game like that or do I have to spend an hour finding a group, an hour getting the group to the location, start killing only moles only for the healer to needing to leave?

Basically the thought if mass war does appeal, the thought of grinding exp PvE for 200 days played online to get to the strategy point isn't.

Well i had the same fears and the same general opinion about MMORPGs so i hope i can be of some use. First of all you can jump right in and start playing scenarios and open world PvP, you'll get boosted to an appropriate level for the tier you're in(tiers = level groupings, 1-11, 12-21 etc).

But the best part IMO is Public Quests, i have a lot of fun with them. Imagine small scripted events that everyone can take part in and gain influence with a faction with. These are grouped into chapters and you can use that influence to get some quite nice items. The coolest thing is that you can be a part of a Public Quest regardless of whether you have a full group or just jump in and play for 15-20 minutes(normal length for one).

The whole questing thing is pretty much as usual, kill x mobs etc but it never really gets too boring, espically because everything is about the big war. That means that as a Dark Elf i am slaughtering high elves whether i choose to go PvE, PvP og go to an open world PvP place - in other words the mass war setting really does work for me - and i love it.

Ask if there's anything else - and oh there are also plenty of cool character choices in my opinion, standard levels(rank), pvp levels (renown ranks), tactics(buffs that you can choose 3 of at a time) and the already mentioned influence which ties into a very nice item system(seems good for me so far at least).

Hi all, been playing since last tuesday and really enjoying it up to now.

The one problem I have got is that when I come to an area where there are a lot of those corn fields the animation effect of the corn moving looks really awfull and it almost makes me feel sick looking at it.Any ideas how to either remove the effect all to make it better.

There should be an option in the custom graphics section to turn it off.

Guys i dont really know much about the game but i did buy it due to my love for wow, im hoping this will be the next big thing for me. My question though... What class should i pick for the best melee dps? I love swords so i was edging towards High elf swordmaster, is this right? Can they dual wield?

I hope they sort the bug where mobs are standing right next to you but you get the message 'Target is too far away'. Bloody pain in the arse!

As long as you're winning each round! :p

With the winning exp and the exp from the two repeatable quests from the warcamps you can really get some nice exp.

Amen to that - I went from level 8 to 10 in what seemed like just over an hour* from doing that exact same method.

*time in this game appears to be warped where a few hours in game can equate to several days in the so called real world. be warned.

Yeah, i just wish that there was some book of binding thing that returned you to warcamp, only 2 levels until mount but so far the amount of running is getting kinda annoying.

09/22 21:30 Cloning on Wednesday

We will be cloning some of our most populated servers on Wednesday. That is, we will create exact copies of these servers, allowing players, guilds and entire alliances not to start a new career, but to continue as if nothing has happened on the new server. Well, except server queues, that is... An hour ago, I announced that we'd be cloning the servers during tomorrow's maintenance. This was originally the plan, as we felt that there was a sense of urgency in implementing this. However, in order to allow for our communities to get themselves organised, we opted to postpone the cloning until Wednesday.

The servers which will be cloned are as follow:

Karak Eight Peaks > Tor Anroc
Karak Azgal > Zhufbar
Karak Hirn > Yvresse
Eltharion > Tiranoc
