*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Little stuck on what is probably an easy quest :)

"A Subtle Wind" I believe is the quest.
I've been given a Skeleton Key and told to use it to enter the Salzenmund Inn and steal valuables before the owners return.
I believe I've found the inn - certainly inside the marker inside Salzenmund.
However don't seem to be able to use the Skeleton key.
The door to the inn is open, nobody inside.
Just cannot see a location to use the skeleton key and I've tried everywhere!

Anyone done this one?

When you open the door you have already used the key so forget about that. As soon as you go in on the desk to the left on the ground floor is somekind of flashing cups or jewelery box something like that. Grab that and thats it.

Well, that was along weekend!

Took all Destro characters to levels 7-9 to get a feel for them to see if I like them, except Disciple of Khaine and Chosen. They were very dull imho. Witch Hunter I also found to be very "meh", as you're doing ok, untill someone decides to hit you, then you die very fast.

Sorceress was AWESOME in pvp, just let your.....err....overload thing....build up to 100% and then you're sitting 2 shotting people :D. But yeah, solo it was too dull for me to carry on, its just a matter of firing off two err...."fireball things" at the mob then wandering along to the next one. Magus wasnt so bad either.....but I couldnt get used to the DPS after sorceress :P. And that horror thing was just a neverending pile of crap.

Of the healers I liked Shaman the best. Zealot was just too pure healing for my liking I thing, didnt really seem to stand out from a generic character in my head for me to want to play. Not like the wee green chap with the mushroom belt. He's awesome, and runs in a funny manner! Only problem with him was that in RvR I kept getting really crap groups that refused to kill the enemy priests, let alone go around the farms of turrets that dwarfs threw up....so it was just a constant grind of healing the retards standing getting pummelled. I couldn't be bothered with that.

That left me with Squig Herder, Black Ork and Maurader. These three I all like a lot, but am beginning to go off the Black Orc a lot. Its damage just isnt there, sure you can take a complete kicking and still be running around bashing elfs on the head, but you dont semm to actually kill anything until a mate comes along to help you. :(

The Squig herder I really really like, but you keep reading all these things on forums about them being gimped, and its true, they are lacking in burst damage......and it I think it reminds me too much of a hunter from WoW for me to fully enjoy. Might give the wee green chap another go tomorow though.

Finally, the Maurader. I love this character, with his shape changing arm. Been having hours of fun today in RvR just running around behind groups and nuking a couple of priests before dying. They always try and leg it, and then they die, Impale owns! He's a bit of an ugly brute mind, and looks like someone has temped him out of a street gutter to the fight with the promise of a bit of change for a cuppa tea afterwards.

Reckon I'll continue with the Maurader for now, unless of course that little green chap with the farting ball of teeth sufficiently impresses me tomorow.

Anyone here got a higher level Squig Herder or Maurader and would like to comment on how it plays?

I'm a 22 marauder currently. If i have a decent healer(s) at my back I can cause major pain to any class in both open rvr and scenarios. not had much trouble soloing most quests too. Its a blast :]

I levelled to lvl 8 and went to pick up a new skill (had 2 options) chose one thinking i can choose the other after......wrong :(

Can I respec later on if i messed up? :o

Not sure what you mean here - at level 8 your core training doesn't give you a choice of skills, although you might get more than one when you hit 8. Renown training (additional buffs that you can buy from a renown trainer with renown levels) have a wide choice, but there's a respec button at the bottom for them.

I think i know what your problem is. Level 8 is the level where you get your first morale ability.

If you go into your abilities menu and click on morale you should have a new one there, drag it down to the morale bar.

Do you know what AoF are gonna do?

AoF will NOT be moving.

Hope some people do, since staying put seems the obvious thing to do. Be nice to try some other class without having to wait 30 mins to log in everytime I switch. I've only tried on Destro class and loads of Order.

Looks like the whole server clone thing is going to fail miserably. On the warhammeralliance poll for our server, not a single guild on either Order or Destruction is willing to move. So looks like all the queues will stay.

LOL - I spent ages looking for something to activate, somewhere to stand and use the key.
How foolish I feel :)

Thanks.

Ah, that's what he thinks he's missing! Yeah, certain abilities fire from the morale bar, which only fills up as you continually fight and kill things.

Thanks Anominity and Sleepery, I swear it gave me 2 options (2 x level 8 abilities) I chose one but is there any way I can respec or cancel this one and use the other?

Yep the renown ones can be respecced.

Only problem getting a game from d2d no manual :(

It definitely doesn't give you a choice of core abilities at level 8. Have a look at your class abilities over at www.wardb.com and check ingame to see if you're missing anything

Its a bug, happened to me too. Just ignore it. There is only one skill you can buy at r8 and one morale.

If the Witch Elf didn't have a poor survivability (although not as bad as a Sorc or BW) it would be pretty OP as its dps is insane. I play a WE and learnt to my cost that you can't run in all guns blazing in RVR. What I love about it is the strategy involved. Instead of just charging in like a tank you have to pick your fights, flanking the enemy and striking at their back lines. I can drop casters and weaker melee classes fast and if I'm lucky I might get out alive, if not but I manage to take down a couple I'm still doing an important job for the team.

That left me with Squig Herder, Black Ork and Maurader. These three I all like a lot, but am beginning to go off the Black Orc a lot. Same as above but in reverse, if the black orc could dish out a ton of dps as well as have great survivability it would be OP. Its a tank, its meant to sit there at the front and take a beating. It can dish out some decent damage but it isnt a dps class. If the enemy is focused on killing the black orc the other classes are free to heal/dps/nuke etc, thus it does an important job for the team.

The great thing about WAR is that each class works best as part of a team and each has a role to play in the battle. If a black orc doesn't suit your playstyle and you find a witch elf too squishy I think the maurader, as you've discovered, would be a good pick :)

the black orc is a great class to play mines lvl22 now and focusing on strengh as much as possible i can do some decent dmg even with a shield and 1hand weapon.

ive got a nice 2hander for if i want to try and dps aswell though.

im generally amongst the highest damage dealers on the score board in scenatios if im not top :) i think all the real dps classes just die a lot while i just charge into the enemy with my 6k health and 82% physical damage mitigation kicking the crap out of all the stunties.

i imagine it only gets better at endgame when i can get my resists for the other dmg types up fairly high too via talismans and what not

btw yes black orc do suck at low level they dont start to shine until after around lvl 12

To be honest a lot of classes are a bit rubbish until the teens. Witch hunter changes completely at 10 due to stealth, I almost gave up my warrior priest at level 8 cos I thought he was too weak (11 now and RvRing almost exclusively).

Got to level 11 on my Marauder now. My first character and I've gotten into the mindset of the game now.

Just hope any n00b decisions on skills/talents/whatever don't cripple his ability when I'm higher leveled.

Was the same for my shammy, then i got my shield etc.. and it got better!

Last night my Zealot got an ability that increased damage by 25% but reduced healing by 25%. Made a huge difference to killing mobs solo. With all the instant heals you get it makes healing a breeze. The class is looking better all the time.

I see people have tried damage based casters - such as target based caster but has anyone tried the AoE based damage casters? Also from experience with other MMORPGs AoE based and DoT based casters weren't popular due to breaking other spell effects (root/mez etc).

Any manaburn ability appeared yet? ;)

There's no mana in the game to burn so nope. Most classes do have an ability or spell that drains action points though but they tend to be minor or on long cooldowns so not spammable.

AoE based casters work very well in warhammer though, due to the lack of CC and most CC being unbreakable by damage (as it only lasts 3-4 seconds).
