sounds like a typical FIFA game then
i've been letdown by FIFA far too often to give it 'another chance' unless i'm sure it's definitely changed .....any old school PES fans have tried FIFA09 demo and thought it ok???
PES fanboy (ex) here, FIFA 09 IS the best football game I have ever played.
FIFA 08 began to convert me
EURO 2008 has converted me
FIFA 09 has made me despise Konami for showing complete lack of willing to improve PES, when it is clearly possible, as EA have shown with FIFA.
In just a couple of years they have taken FIFA (Which I hated for so long) and turned it into a bloody incredible game of football.
are you a Winning Eleven/WEJL fanboy or just been playing the last couple of PES versions?mmmmm interestingare you a Winning Eleven/WEJL fanboy or just been playing the last couple of PES versions?
is there a PC 09 demo or is it just the 360 version out?......and will the PC version be the same as the 360 or will it be different? like how Konami did with PES06 on the PC.

ISS on the N64, through to ISS on the PS1, then all the PES' since then up to 2008, which I sold shortly after buying.
There is a FIFA09 demo for the PC but it is different from how the game will play on 360/PS3.

so the PC version is a different engine etc?? that's a shame coz i hate using the 360 controller for footie.
awww man i did have one of those ps2 -> 360 joypad converters for PES06 but ended up selling it coz the game was so pap....might have to get another if FIFA is really the shiz.

Im the same, but im still willing to give Pro evo the benefit of the doubt, i think theres room for two good football games, but im not particularly confident that the online issues will be fixed, they were poor in 06, just unplayable in 2008, the biggest crime konami made was not fixing that, as its still a damn good game of football, especially with mates.
I think the basic mechanics of 08 were flawed, but it was a much better online experience which is why we all switched, had pes2008 had perfect online, i dont doubt we would all still be playing that instead of fifa.
Euro2008 fixed most of the problems of fifa 08, but added a few of its own, fifa 09 does look to have a great balance between the two games.

Same as any footie game you're new to, play games on the easiest setting until you're destroying teams easily.I try to work the ball around as much as possible and like to play it down the wings and whip the crosses in, but often feel like I get pushed inside to often and end up too narrow.... any tips for some free scoring guys?

The amount of attacking you will do should give you a decent idea of what types of shots are most effective. I have nothing to back this up, but I fully believe that when people moan about any footie game being too hard it's because they're not picking up on which types of shots to go for. We're past the days where footie games had one or two shots that were guaranteed to go in every time, but each footie game still has it's nuances which tell you what type of attempts are even worth bothering with in the first place.
Once you start moving up through the levels you will still have to learn how best to develop play each time, but knowing what you're aiming for should mean once you start creating chances you will take them. I've never liked using crosses as my main plan of attack (except maybe on Virtua Striker), they're useful on the break and I'll take them if the chance is on, but in general play there are far more effective ways of putting the ball away.
