Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of the companies that offer to pay you to the tune of £200 p/m in return for using your car as a moving bill board (click here for an example.
I picked up my 08 plate Fiat Punto the other day and am thinking that this is an easy way to pay for the finance on it but I have a few questions:

  • Are they only interested in people who live in big cities because I live in a small town on the east coast
  • Are they completely legitimate
  • And other than possiblly making my car look stupid are there any other risks?

Thanks

How far do I have to drive?
As far as you usually do. You don't need to change your driving habits at all. When you register, you tell us your usual drive patterns, which we then match to our advertisers needs. You carry on driving as before. In most instances, these patterns will be confirmed by a small GPS unit which is temporarily installed in your vehicle.

Shame, you could always take the unit out and put it in another car.....

That's sounds pretty good if you're not that bothered about driving round in a moving billboard! Would pay for my petrol evey month :D

They could put some cracking adverts on there,

gential wart cream - score with burds :)

For £200 I would be half tempted, but not with that GPS been fitted.

i'd do this in a flash.

can't do it at the moment, of the fear that my vectra's body panels would fall off with the extra weight of the logos on them :)

If anything, it might hold your car together a bit better, providing panel gaps are left covered! :D

One of the lads from MTorque has his CSL wrapped in the River Island colours and it looks pretty good and he has used it for some marketing shots too.

I work for one of the companys that makes the films that go onto the vehicles. Mine is one of the largest in the Uk and guarantees our film will come off when you're finished with it but depending on what companies material they use it might be a nighmare to remove and could potentially leave the adhesive still on your car and as someone described it a moving fly trap.

Im guessing they will actually track the GPS and view the car just to make sure its not on the 534 bus route to newcastle every day . . .

If they could guarantee me £2k per year I'd probably go for it :p In reality the number of advertisers that want an advert on a 6 year old Skoda that is either parked at work or travelling up and down the A47 / A11 between various schools is probably quite small :p
