Anyone captured the north farm? (it's pretty early on)

Run into the same issue I had with the original STALKER - two lousy weapons, not much ammo or medkits - and 15+ enemies (who laugh at headshots!) to take down. Tips gratefully received haha.

Edit: Phew, mission done - pretty much camped behind a crate with shotgun, let them come close then BLAMMO lol

I had the same, I was getting raped by the miliatary at the lower entrance to Cordon so went for the top one, but had to go past the North Farm in much the same way as you.

Another point, I had it installed on my XP partition but for fun I decided to install it on my Vista partition and I wish I had done it sooner, DX10 runs better than DX9 with the same settings and looks a little better, for some reason the Vista experience is smoother than the XP one, shock horror :eek:

Only thing is that Antialiasing works in DX10 so it halves the framerate when enabled full, but with it disabled the framerate in Cordon in the evening is ~60fps which is great, just remember to set Sun Rays to low

What is the main issue with the 1.05.04 patch?

I have been playing in the swamps and have just been to Sidorovich in Cordon and haven't had a single CTD, BSOD or mission bug yet ****touches wood****

I did have the first trader die on me while trading, he just fell to the floor as if he had a heart attack :confused:

but it could be my fault as I could not resist to try out a trader mod.

There are some scripting problems which seem to occur randomly and cause CTD's. If your very lucky you may never come across it.

So there is no known mission breaking bug like the inability to go to Garbage?

I haven't had any issues going to Garbage. The only fault I have had is when there is an emission in the Red Forest, it freezes the game. I just went to another location when the same emission appeared and there were no issues, weird, but good.

I got to agree with others, potentially great game, much like the original but the bugs are so prevalent, I crash to desktop at least twice an hour, I have to kill friendly stalkers to complete missions, the annoying regulatory the same old defend/capture missions come up that mean you run back for miles and just as you get there TASK CANCELLED... wtf...

I don’t understand why they don’t work that month or so longer and finish the game rather than continually releasing what ultimately is an unfinished buggy game.

With all that said, I still love it and am highly addicted.

Spent literally 3 hours making a raid on the Army base in the cordon, the one with the bad ass gun emplacment thats 100% accurate. The games crazy, they continually respawn if your not close enough, there where so many weapons it took me like 4/5 trips to ferry them all back and all the time the new spawners where leaving more. Still paid for a nice modified armour.

Also anyone else getting severe artifacts even in the menu screen when DX10 is enabled?
Its unplayable in DX10 for me due to the amount of artifacts.

I had 'wait for backup to arrive' after capturing the north farm, but it never arrived. Trying to manually walk back to where the reward is can't be done because the area is surrounded by radiation zones, pretty annoying.

And I've had a few CTDs when quickloading.

Patience getting a bit thin but it's engrossing all the same!

I had that as well, waited a while, but decided to stuff it and go to the machine yard, there I warped to the base and when I went to the north farm again it was full of Clear Sky members and my main mission changed to 'go to Cordon'

Not me, DX10/Vista 32bit works just as well as DX9/XP 32 bit and Vista is even a little bit smoother.

Think I've now wandered up to a large bridge further north but I'll have a look for that, see if it sets the mission(s) straight - cheers

(Hope one of the rewards is night vision, aiming from 11.00pm is pretty painful!)

Are you still stuck around the section in Red Forest where you are returning to hand in the mission? If so, could you PLEEAAASSE send me the saved game file around that area? I reformatted my computer today and forgot to backup the saved game files

If so, either put it on a hosting site or send to me MSN address please!

What patch are you on? got a feeling mine was on the old patch not the latest one.

I'll still have a look when i get in but got a feeling its not goin to be any help even if i've got it!
