Nope. It was an operation being carried out in which the baby supposedly reached out of the bit being operated on, and clenched the surgeon's hand. The surgeon later admitted that this wasn't the case, but I may be wrong.

They didn't have the fireproof equipment required to tackle the problem, so they would have been severely burnt in the process.
