Ive mentioned a couple of times the MMO gaming has been a bit of a killer for my enjoyment with other games.

Its made time feel a bit wasted if Im on something else.

But im bloody sick of this being the case. Ive got to drive this out of me, Because ive been a gamer since my NES at a young age.

I played games through many times over, but when I started wow in feb 2005, i kinda started to miss out on other gaming experiences.

I wanna put this right!!

I want a list of games that you think should be played through and enjoyed. Id appreciate if you could accompany your choices with a comment about them to keep in interesting.

Thanks guys :)

Beyond Good and Evil (not sure if this was before or after 05, but play it anyway!)
STALKER
Portal
Witcher
Civ 4
Medieval II
And definately Bioshock as the guy above already mentioned; my favourite game ever :)

The Witcher
Mass Effect
Psychonauts

The 3 most enjoyable games I have ever played, apart form Baldur's Gate many years ago.

Planescape: Torment

Arguably the finest game of the Infinity Engine series, and possibly the greatest CRPG ever created. It is plot/dialogue heavy however, and the graphics are definitely getting on a bit. If you value story above all else though then this is a must.

Sacrifice
Knights of the old republic (good game just never really got round to finishing it)
Oblivion (just get bored about half way through for some reason, same with morrowind)
The Witcher

I have stalker, The witcher and bioshock on my shelf, I never finished any of them.

stalker only got about 10 minutes play.

Think i best dust it off!

Company of Heroes + Opposing Fronts (in that order)

Just wondering, why that order? I got the expansion free with a GFX card, but dont have the original so i have never done the original single player, but i have completed british single player and nearly finished the german expansion side single player too. Would i be disapointed if i buy the original after completing the expansion?

Planescape:Torment - brilliant, dark storyline. Fantasy with no armour or swords or dying, lots of tattoos. Be prepared for a lot of reading though.

Mass Effect - finished this last night. Excellent game

Icewind Dale - preferred this to BG since you could make up all of your party and focus on the main story. Interesting that they're just reimplementing type of structure this for the latest NWN2 expansion which I'm looking forward to.

Oblivion - be prepared to lose your life for a while!

Half-life 2 - my introduction to FPS. Drew me in and blew me away.

Other lesser, but excellent, games IMHO - BG2, NWN2, NWN: Hordes of the Underdark expansion, KOTOR (1+2)

Spotting the trend here?

On my own to-do list I have : Bioshock (loaded tonight), Dawn of War, Supreme Commander, Dreamfall, Oblivion:Shivering Isles expansion, Witcher (was waiting for extended edition which has just been release), Far Cry (not sure I'll bother now), Stalker (free with my new motherboard), Grid (Free with new graphics card :) )

Games I've started and then got rid of quickly include Deus-Ex, ToEE.

FG, Don't forget there are 2 different endings depending on what you do with the little sisters, Harvest or Rescue in Bioshock ;)

The happy ending is pretty cool though but you would need to rescue the little ones to see that :)

It took me 2 years to get out of a situation similar to yours, I just wouldn't find any game fun except for WoW :p

I used to be like you. Wow used to take up the vast majority of my gaming time and I would get bored of single player games fast, but nowadays I can't seem to get as engrossed with MMOs as I used to and I prefer single player games more. Warhammer, as good of a game that it is just doesn't grab me like it would have a year ago.

Thanks for that. How long is the game? Given my to-do list not sure if I'll do it twice close together. I've been tempted to go Renegade in Mass Effect given that I went through with Paragon. Can't be bothered with all the side quests again though so don't know if I'd get enough XP to make it worthwhile. Decided to leave it a while first.

Hi Mate,
Well I completed it the second time round today to see the alternative ending, Approx. 10 hours or so but that was hitting hard with nothing more than loo and ciggy breaks lol. I managed to get the endings through FRAPS and converted to DIVX if you cant be bothered to play through it twice and want to see the ending you didn't see. ;)
