*** Official Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Thread***

Its certainly a nice addition, but it should have been in WoW from day one, and it should be in every zone, not just 1 (is it 1?). If it had been there from the start or at least covered everywhere, I might have stayed in WoW instead of having to go elsewhere to try and recapture the glory of my Daoc days.

But even with the new single PvP zone, there are major issues:

Forcing all people to compete in Arena to do any PvP.

Well some git pages back mentioned that the dwarf starting area was dull, so I put off starting one until now. Bloody hell, engineers are fun :D - bombs, flame turrets, mines (the blow up sort, not the digging in sort), rifles. And really impressive beards.

Starting area is pretty cool too as it turns out, some people have no taste :p

In beta, engineers were pretty average and so you didn't see many about. Since launch, they look like a fantastic class. I know you can't judge a class by it's damage in scenarios, but I see them topping the boards a lot in T3.

Yeah, I came sixth in my first scenario, and that was at a boosted level 4, and I'd never played the scenario before either. You seem to get a lot of aoe skills, and being a bit sneaky about where you put your turret helps :)

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM

Thats all i ever hear from those damn engineers!

Maybe off topic a bit going off recent posts, but i joined Monday Night. Didn't join initially as with work and g/f (who seems addicted to that parasitic Facebook site), i thought my time online would be limited.

Initial impressions: I know this may have been rehashed, but it has to be said it is identical to WoW in almost every way; however, in almost every way, it adds to WoW, so this isn't a bad thing: Take something good, make it better, it's the model to modern life. I'm Level 8 at the moment, and must say i find levelling a bit slower to WoW, though i played that in beta, for about a year, so was a long time ago and i was at Uni at the time, so time was spare and plentiful. The RvR scenario's are great for me, i can get involved without invested hours upon hours to get there.

Issues: I find the community at outset worse than any other MMO i've played. People don't talk, majority avoid groups, everyone is looking after number 1. The problem here is, i play for the social aspect, build relationships, foes, make it like a living world, not some single player game that has players in the background. If there's no human interaction: This ain't an MMO for me. So onto my question...

Is there anyone here on World's Edge Mountain in a Guild currently looking for people to join? I am UK based, so play the usually UK primetimes. I can't stand soloing this much in a game, so the PQ system is a god send, else i'd be sat on my own whacking squigs for hours. It's not so much the solo combat, it's the lack of community, i enjoy talking to people ingame about quests, discoveries, battles and general chit-chat. So if anyone can help out (doesn't seem to be ingame guild application tool, except to create one), would be grateful :)

P.S. Sorry for long post, work is annoying me :D

Been playing for a couple of weeks now. Have tried Marauder, Ironbreaker, Bright Wizard and have finally plumped for a White Lion, I'm absolutely loving this class and it's nothing like the normal archetype I play (I tend to go Healer). The PQs are enjoyable and the Scenarios are supurb fun. I agree with people saying that the community seems a bit muted at the mo but I expect that to pick up as the game matures. This certainly doesn't seem to be the beta release that AoC was, and being able to jump straight into the PvP scenarios as soon as you start but with scaling makes it a lot more inclusive and allowing for a learning curve.

Anyway if anyone is on Karak Ungor look out for a White Lion called Havalaf, if you fight for Order lets join forces and smite, if you fight for Destruction taste my Lions breath worm!!!

I'm on Karak Norn (or however you spell it) on Destruction. I find the community relatively okay. Some people won't talk but I've been in a fair few groups that do and having friends on there does help a lot.

I guess the similar principles are similar to WoW just like WoW's are similar to EQ / AC / etc. but the differences are vast.

I'm personally very glad it takes time to level otherwise it would be too easy and I'd be bored if there was nothing more to achieve. I'm having quite a lot of fun in it I have a Witch Elf and Chosen which I'm playing. Both are fun in there own ways though I detest Chosen at the moment for PvP.

Agreed here. I came into this game telling myself "You've came into it a couple weeks late, you don't need to keep up, you can't, play at own pace and enjoy". There's no way i have the time to race levels and i'm glad, because that takes away the grinding in the game. If you no longer play to gain levels asap, there is no grind, and it's all down to gameplay.

Im a healer for the first time in any MMO for one reason: groups for the most part need me, and it's a change of playstyle. Im very happy that i get recognition for healing and im usually top of list in scenario's in both healing and reknown. But it's not a class that's fun to play solo, so it will be tough to see it through.

Gah, I detest arena pvp, and indeed the bg pvp. Really cant stand instanced pvp, really grates on me.

Yup. It looks like if you want to do BGs or the new open PvP, unless you are happy to wear greens, you have to actively compete in arena, and actually do well. Just participating won't be enough for token items in the expansion. Looks like they're trying to kill PvP off tbh.

Im playing a healer, warpriest, also got a shadowhunter, brightmage and maybe a archmage on the go too. love them all. not sure on the tank yet as i have not gone near the dwarfs, but they seem fun.

Have they sorted out the ACCEPT THESE RULES bug everytime you log on yet or do you have to keep saying yes to it?

Must admit I quite like the PvP in WAR it's very refreshing and different. Though there are some things that drive me mad about it at the same time (constant stuns, knockbacks, etc.)

The open RvR works quite well where you go into one zone and then the next minute you could be under attack. Great fun and makes you keep alert. Though stealth is the way forward.... :D

And no you need to accept the terms and conditions everytime. Sure it'll be fixed / removed sooner or later - it's not really a high priority I guess.

They've already stated that it's not a bug and will stay as they need it to combat gold sellers in the courts.

I'm never sure what area's make you RvR, infact, in Dragonblood Mountain (i think it's called that), there's area's where some people are tagged RvR, other's aren't, confusing.

One thing i love is the game encourages you to help each other, if you're lazy, you get nowt, and you shows people you're lazy too. Great addition.

Not totally happy with the UI though, but i think it can be customized a lot. Thing is, healing in scenarios, i need to select players fast, spells fast, move fast, i need to select these with a touch of a key, not click on them. Is there a shortcut key to select members in the group? Also can i customize what button sets off which spell? Keys 1-10 are fine, but Alt+1,etc, it's a pain.

Theres some rather nice mods out that help a lot with healing, like hovercast which allows you to cast a spell from a hotkey on whomever your mouse is hovering over without the need to target them first.

Another one is emergency monitor which constantly keeps your friendly target set to the person with the lowest health that is in RANGE and LOS of a defined spell.

We've done a lot of testing in our guild lately of mods, got about a dozen really useful ones now :)
