Can Vista MCE satisfy the wife?

you can tweak the registry so 'skip forward' does it by the ammount of time you choose..

i set it to 5 mins forward, and 1 min for back :)

Yeah, but I'm crap at watching things. 'what did they say?' - wouldn't really want to skip such large amounts.

The times I start watching a film from the end are low enough that I'd rather keep it shorter, but thanks for the link anyway!

you can edit the times to what you want..

having 5 forward is handy, usually skips adverts bang on..

The best thing about the EPG in VMC is the movies section shows all of the movies that are on and not just the movie channels. I wish that sky would put this in their upcoming EPG.

Some great VMC 'tweaks' in here. Bledd, you should start a thread just for these.

i've not tried any of them (besides the skip one), just found them all

might make one and i'll include ones that are bug free :)

I'm with bledd on this. The codecs aren't mature enough to be completely stable in x64. I have two pcs that are more or less used solely for media center duties. They've only got 2Gb RAM, x64 isn't really needed. It's just far less of a headache and far more reliable to use Vista x86 for this purpose.

For any other use of Vista, I'd say if you can run x64 then you should. Just not in HTPC cases!
I have Vista64 Media Centre playing 720p & 1080p mkv's perfectly.

All i installed was the Vista Codec x64 Components and configured ffdshow64

Theres a slight bug where u have to select OSD in the video settings (you can then hide the text) and it plays mkv files better than CoreAVC.

Thankfully to ffdshow64's lower cpu usage my HTPC no longer overheats

So im afraid to say, x64 codecs seem pretty mature to me right now ;)
