Have you tried the Cats Protection League? I can't imagine they would turn you down

Even if you just left them there without prior appointment, they'd take them in and they never put a healthy cat down.
I wish I was closer to you, I'd take them off you and take them to my local CPL, my brother in law is the maintenance manager there.
My friend had a cat in her council flat before they bought somewhere. They just "forgot"to tell the council they had a pet and threw him out of the house for the day whenever anyone was coming for a look round.
