Does your local supermarket still sell PC games?

The BIG three around me have all ceased doing any PC games whatsoever. I called in to pick up Lego Batman this morning, without luck.

Won`t get ripped off on the high street, so looks like I will have to get it online.
 
My nearest big supermarket has a row of the current "top 5" PC games, and otherwise does not stock them. A host of console games and CDs though.
 
I did notice that the supermarket I normally buy mine from had no PC games in stock the other day.. except SIMs2.

It just goes to show that PC gaming isn't as mainstream as it once was and the rise of online distribution hasn't helped this.
 
My local Morrisons does a few but they usually priced higher than the local GAME...which seems a tad wierd to me
 
It's been like that around here for a good long time, most high street stores around this area don't sell PC games.

Woolies only has console games and WHSmiths doesn't sell anything but Wii games.

Somerfield is our local supermarket (with the big names a few miles away) and it doesn't sell ****.

Thank God for the internet is all I can say.
 
The Walmart owned company still has a fair few near me, but budget titles and only the top few in the chart, that's it.

And thats been the biggest let down for me. Most of my current PC stock has come from there. When I enquired this morning, I was told they needed the space for other formats, so they will only be distributing PC games via the online service.

Maybe its just me, but I still like going to the shop and actually buying a game. Buying online is just not as good somehow, even though its usually cheaper.
 
Don't bother looking in supermarkets or even games shops, online shops and digital downloads are the future as reflected in the latest NPD reports. Before they included online and digital sales PC sales looked grim.

I've not bought a PC game in a brick and morter shop for about six years now, usually dearer anyway.

I like to have a bit of a browse as well sometimes. A certain well-known high street retailer often has "3 for £10" or "3 for £20" deals on non-chart games. It's nice to have a bit of a look through to pick up past games that you missed.
 
I guess it's just not profitable anymore. I guess PC owners are more likely to statistically to have the ability and knowledge to buy online or download them as opposed to console owners.
 
Retail PC gaming is dead.

I never go into town anyway, and I think like many others I'd rather pre-order and recieve in the post, or the next preffered method which is digital downloads.

I think this is the reason why PC games are becoming much cheaper online. £17.99 for most new releases is great, compared to £30-40 console releases online.

It can only be a good thing. Most households are online these days and this fprum has thousands of members dedecated to the PC hardware casue so I don't see the platform in jeapardy. The only problem I see is younger users paying with cash, that aint gonna happen online sadly.
 
Dup: Pretty much agree with your entire post, but wanted to add that I won't get my pre-orders two days early from a brick and mortar shop. I generally always do from the e-tailer I use.
 
The only supermarkets I notice still selling PC games are Morrisons and Tesco. Even then, the shelf / display area is significantly smaller than the neighbouring consoles. My local HMV (not a supermarket, I know) has almost completely eliminated their display area for PC games and stashed it in the far corner towards the back of the store...

At least we have a GAME store now.
 
Leeds Morrisons have just aggregated all the games into one section. I think there were a couple of PC titles in there.
 
PC games are fairly thinly spread at the Morrisons I work at.

1 shelf each for 360/PS3
2 shelves for Wii
2 shelves for DS
1 shelf for PC (at the bottom..)
