GTX280 & GTX260 Cooling - HR-03 GTX

I wonder if the ram stick pads actually stick on this one ?
Nothing quite like the sound of a metal ram sink clanking as it falls of the chip
and rattles around inside your PC.

I ended up removing both hr-3's from my 8800GTX's , waste of money.

Taking their time getting this to the market, I'll definitely be buying one, the 8800GTX version definitely did a great job lowering temps.

And in the case of the GTX280, get rid of the fan noise too once you stick 120mm fan on it. :)

Who cares? they are rubbish.

Did you actually use one? It dropped my GTX 20 degrees from stock temps when idling and between 25 and 30 under load.
To me that is not rubbish + I can't hear it which is a hell of a lot better than the racket the stock coolers produced

I can relate too the guy who said its rubbish but the only part that is bad on the HR heatsink was the ram heatsinks, too provide such a lovely kit and have the ram heatsinks fall off and not even stick on the ram shows poor workmanship its like they didnt test the product before releasing !

Having said that once u get some thermal tape or some thermal epoxy it can do the job nice and simple but it shouldnt be required of course.

Id still get this heatsink but just hope they release sets for the ATI range... I noticed fan is a 100% must though :)

Ill be going for this, while my GTX280 is pretty much silent running something like WOW, Brothers in Arms dosent half spin up the fan, while still no where near as noisy as the 4870 full whack, its still not pleasant on the old ears.

When every fan in your case is sub 20db rated the 280 really is damn loud when gaming!

HR-03 GTX cant come soon enough!

Hi there

This cooler has been sctached off until ThermalRight find a better solution, for now its a no go.

They really need to at least test one of there products before releasing it.. definatly no quality assurance or testing time for some of there products but once u work the kinks out can be good.

Either way heres hoping for a better soloution

Any news on any other solutions?

Scythe Musashi is coming out that will support the 4870 and GTX280. Should be available for purchase in ~11 days (can pre-order now). Not at OcUK though, so can't link unfortunately.

looks good but at ~£35 i hope it will be compatible with the next batch of cards after the GT200 series

Just looked into the Scythe Musashi and from the picture it does not look that great.

Really need to see a review of one on a GTX 280!
