I've just received a HD4670 card from OcUK which is working fine apart from I don't know how to get the audio working with HDMI.

I'm using a DVI-HDMI cable with no adapters.
The HD-audio drivers are installed from the cd that came with the card.

In device manager under sound i have 'ATI Function driver for high definition audio - ATI AA01'.

In sound settings from control panel no device shows up.

The PC is running windows 2003 server.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Well, couple of things there; one, you NEED to use the special HDMI-DVI adaptor that comes with the card; that will allow you to pass audio whereas a standard DVI to HDMI cable won't. I'd also suggest downloading and trying the latest HDMI audio device driver straight from realtek who provide the audio chip, as that may work a bit better.

Annoyingly the HDMI-DVI adapter didn't come with the card! I'll try and source one..

Edit: Do I need a specific adapter or will any cheap HDMI-DVI adapter off the bay do?

Send OcUK a webnote letting them know, and see if they'll send you one out, as the adapters do come with the cards, its the only way to get them, or contacting ATi.

also go to the sound section on the control pannel and make sure the hd audio device (ati) is the primary sound card thing...
