Do you think you have someone elses dream job?

Just Curious to this because i know i have.

I drive 70 tonne Dump Trucks, 15 tonne excavators and every couple months ill help with drilling and set up of the next shot firing.

To lots of people this would probably be there dream job that they could do for ever.

But to me, its just a job i do, some parts are good some parts are bad but im not really content with it and dont want to spend my life doing it.

So do you think you have a dream job that isnt your dream job?:)

Sounds similar to what my dad did in the 70s, worked in Pannawonica I believe.

My job is not a dream job lol. For anyone, but then it could be if i was interested in taking over the business, depends how you look at it I guess.

I guess I did previously have jobs that there is quite a lot of competition for.

Was a broker for about a couple of weeks then walked out - it really isn't that glamorous - tis just sales. Still quite a few people want to become a "stockbroker" I guess purely for the money (and maybe some misplaced image they have of what a private client broker actually does).
Was also a trader in a proprietary trading firm for a bit, this worked out a bit better for me and is quite a nice role to get.

Now I'm involved with financial software - I doubt many people aspire to deal with rates problems or analyse FX deals etc... isn't quite as glamorous though tis a pretty steady role and pretty safe too (which is quite nice, given the current state of the markets).

You work in a beer factory? :p

edit: brewery (i failed)

Trust me, in the present climate and with economic conditions as they are, you wouldn't be working there for long. I work in distribution for a brewer and our sales are about roughly half what they were last year. Par example - typical tonnages going out on a Monday a year ago were about the 500 mark, this Monday was about 300, which was a good one for how it's been lately.

All aboard the redundancy boat (a registered trademark of the phail boat company) for me after this week though. :(

I think there are lots of people who want to do what I do (I'm an aerodynamicist for an F1 team.... guess which one), and certainly when people who meet me find out they usually say they would love to do that.

The reality of it is quite different to the glamorous image most people have of working in F1 - it's bloody hard work, long hours, and lots of time spent behind spreadsheets and computer screens - I certainly don't want to do it for life.

The reality of it is quite different to the glamorous image

There hasn't been one male who hasn't raised their eyebrows when I tell them I teach 14 to 16 year old girls and call me a lucky git.
The reality is that they are a reet pain in the ass.
Yesterday I was teaching 36 of them and I very nearly lost it.
I was pondering between losing my rag or standing there saying nothing - I chose the latter and one by one they shut up.
I have a lot of beautiful young ladies in front of me but they become very ugly when all together.

Is that rhyming slang? ;):D

If you want it to be ;)

Which is no-ones dream job at the moment unless job insecurity appeals to you. :p Obviously hoping that you've got no worries on that score though, unless you want to leave. :)
Yeah we're pretty much ok, although who knows? Redundancy for me, whilst inconvenient, would be very much welcome :)

Lets see;

i get up at 6am, get to work for 8ish, play with IT equipment al day, help users, build pc's. laptops, blackberrys, servers, routers, now doing telephone com work too, have a break when i wish, 60-90mins lunch, finish at 6pm, get paid a decent wage.... hell, at weekends i fix pc's,networks and laptops for friends and family too lol...

not sure if anyone else would like it as i know some on the team are in it for money only, but i love it. all i need is kylie to marry me and my life is complete :)
