I don't think they give out fines along with a prison sentence, could be wrong though, she did get a complete deserved 3 year ban though.

no idea, just thought that they normally give you 2 things, 3 year ban on top is good.
She will find life a little hard with out her own transport and the little to take around.

Why does she still have her kid if thats the case?

Sounds harsh but sounds like she needs help before she can help others

No it's not, 4 months is the max. She was told in court that if she'd been up in front of the other magistrate then she'd have been given that sentence as their child was killed by a drunk driver.

She got a little lucky then :p

EVERYONE knows the penalties for drink driving are severe.
I find it about as silly as people starting threads on 'I have been caught doing 120mph will I be ok'.

She got caught drink driving, hopefully the punishment will ensure she never does it again.
I assume the punishment involves prison as a child was in the car. The main concern is not her car, but the innocent family taken out when she veers (sp?) onto the other side of a main road or carriageway or something.

whats silly about doing 120mph ?...get to where your going faster. maybe you slow people are the silly ones for wasting your life trundling along ;) (though obviously your gonna be banned, should have paid more attention and not been caught)

drink driving is dumb, however, I expect a lot of people do it without realizing the morning after... I try not to drink if I know I have to drive the next day to be on safe side.

She's an alchohic AND suffers from chronic depression.

I am sure the chronic depression is due to excessive consumption of a depressent - such as alcohol.

So as an alcoholic she ALWAYS drink drives?????
(Big assumption here being that an addiction means you always have to have some, so she is pretty much always drunk).

She sounds like a real ahiever in life, you must be real proud.

You should probably ask my parents that question, it's not like I raised her (I ignored the rest of your silly post, sorry)

I fail to see the sillyness of my post.
She is an alchy, so wtf was she doing even driving at all ever.
Everytime she gets in a car she is likely to be over the limit, endangering other people in the road.

No offence to you mate but it serves her right. She should've got her licence revoked and 6 months you ask me, thats a fair and rational sentence for this kind of thing to me.
You don't get in a car after drinking. Especially not with a passenger let alone a child passenger.

Thats just moronic and she needs to learn how dangerous and stupid it is.
If you're an alcoholic and suffer from chronic depression you shouldn't be on the road simple as. You shouldn't be looking after a kid either, you should be sorting yourself out.
