Chavs with a terrier, what a surprise. 
Cockers are fantastic dogs, but simply not designed to hold their own in a fight. If some chav set his dog on my springer both the mutt and the **** owner would be feeling some steel toes.
To be honest, the only real aspiration I hold at this point in time is getting enough capital to get the hell out of this country and I've never felt like that before. It simply isn't enough anymore to move village, city, county - whatever - it feels almost instictive. Rats and sinking ship etc.

That actually happened to me! Well, not QUITE like that
I was only 14 and had just had kidney surgery, but I'd recently bought a protection trained (professionally 'attack trained') American Bulldog male. He was 26 inches to the withers, and weighed about 8 stone of solid muscle.I was walking back with him off lead (over a field) with mum, and as we cut down an alley towards our street, Ralph (the dog) stopped for a pee. A gang of lads older than me (around 18) stood up off the railings, threw their beer cans down and basically blocked the alley with a "you're gonna get messed up" look on their faces.
I looked all six of them up and down, laughed... they were like 'huh?!'... and gave them the ole "O RLY?"
expression back. As they started walking towards us, pounding their fists into their hands, I whistled sweetly "Ralph!" 
Ralph (who had by then finished his pee) came running into the alley behind us, and was NOT impressed to see all those people acting that way, and suffice to say you'll never see chav scum scarper as quickly as they did that day LMAO That dog was epic, RIP.

^^ Blimey, he looks awesome. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are good protection dogs too, or so I've heard. A local woman walks hers around where I live at all hours. Nobody messes! It did look funny last time I saw it though - it had big a pink teddy in it's mouth.
At the OP, I'm really sorry to hear about your dog. An old friend had a Cocker Spaniel and that was attacked in a similar was by an Alsation when it was young. It messed it's face up a bit, but it was fine after a while.
I hope the little scumbags get their just desserts soon.

Dont know the ridgeback dog but I do know Boerboel which is similar I guess? they are awesomely powerful dogs I tell you. A friend of a friend has family in south africa and they have one approaching pony size, he routinely breaks out of his field and eats chickens whole

Just been out for walkies with my Cocker Spaniel and we were walking in a dark part of a road on our route when this group of scum walked passed us and set their bull terrier type dog on my cocker, they just stood laughing, luckily as soon as I realised this was no accident I punched the ***** dog in the head to separate them and shouted a load of abuse to them to control their dog to which I got threatened with a stabbing, que me scooping up my dog and giving it legs home, checked her over luckily no apparent damage but shes shaking and this has probably ruined her development towards other dogs as shes only 10 months old, she wont stop patrolling the house barking.
Called the police and gave them as much as I could as it was pitch black, they said they would go out and look for them as a knife maybe involved, but I wont hold my breath.
Im absolutely disgusted what has happened to this country and this is in the heart of posh Surrey, I hope they find them and destroy their dog.

It’s appalling when you are learn about these things. Just as well you had the ability and reactions to step in and lessen the duration for your dog’s benefit.
Got to wonder what’s in line for the offending dog at the hands of its owner and his friends. Probably going to have a grim life to train it up for repeat attacks.
On one of those security camera footage programs that keep appearing on ITV network it showed a similar attack with a German Sheppard on the receiving end, and that went on for minutes as the attacking dog couldn’t be disengaged.
Maybe pepper spray would have helped instead of trying to beat it lose. But got to wonder how long it will be before muggers start using it.

To a certain extent it isnt the dog's fault, its the owners for they way they have brought it up. The owners should be the ones that are destroyed

Ridgebacks are a lot lighter than the Boerboel, but the Ridgeback is/was used in Africa to fend off/kill lions in small groups of 4 or so dogs.
The Boerboel looks utterly monstrous in build, I've never seen them before.

Yeah, Boerboels are great dogs when you find the right (read: legit) breeding. I very nearly imported a pair from Anasha Kennels (Scandanavia) in the late 90s, but I ended up sticking to Am Bulls. Great dogs though, I'd not say no to one now Like most dogs of this type, though, they do require a 'certain' type of owner - that is, someone already experienced with potentially defensive/aggressive, work driven large dogs. I'd certainly not want to see them being bred by rent-a-thug chavs as most of the decent breeds are nowadays

One of these 10 year old chavs kegged my mate, so he just uppercutted him and broke his tooth/dropped him lol. Infact I think he said he found out he was actually 13 and not 10, but either way he was still a cocky little chav.
