having been a computer engineer for 12 years ive use loads of mouses
one of them being a saitek gm2

but had my current mouse for 3 years now and to be honest its rubbish for games (keysonic alloy)

ive now got my eye on a new mouse either the ocz dom or the Razer Diamondback 3G Gamers Mouse (Red)

my main request for my new mouse is one for games to have side buttons and aslo if poss light up red .

any other ideas

and got to be cheap too.;)

Ah lol. I just realised you had already said you was looking at that mouse (which is why I edited it out).

Ahh, I thought it (thread reboot) was because the arrival of the Optimus Maximus went to AceModder's head and had him recommending the most expensive gaming mouse (Roccat Kone), but then he changed his mind, because we live in that kind of world where you have to worry about everything you say and that in recommending such an expensive mouse he might have caused irreversible emotional distress.

Anyway... I don't know how it would do for gaming as I don't currently game, and I know people prefer to use corded mice for that. But I have an MX Revolution from Logitech and I am very, very impressed with build quality, so I am definitely on my way to becoming a Logitech fanboi and will almost certainly look to them for a gaming mouse should I feel the need to get one when I upgrade.

yeah in the real world my budget is about £25 ish

I personally find the gaming mice abit of a gimmick. Tried the Mx510 and Habu over the years but you cant beat a microsoft Intelli :)

I have used a MS Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 for about 4 years now I think. Same mouse and it works a treat for me :) I think its been renamed "MS Wireless Optical Mouse 5000" now though.

I'm suprised so many people are keen on the razor diamondback, my one experience was a nightmare as I found it not too comfortable and one of the buttons died after one month. Personally I prefer either a microsoft optical or logitech so given the £25 budget I'd go for the Logitech MX518.

yeah looks a good shape and also price seems to be on par

I doubt it to be honest.

Anyone know what the Logitech G5 is like vs the Razer Diamondback 3G?

My brother has a g5 and I have a db 3g and I much prefer mine. It's probably because I'm so used to it but I seem to have more control of the razer. Generally infra red is also better than laser plus I love the on the fly sensitity on the razer better.
