I don't know if I'm imagining it or not but didn't the bags used to be a lot fuller than they are now? I always preferred them over Walkers because the bags were fuller, but now they seem about the same.

Because I haven't paid attention to the weight of the bags in the past I don't know if it's gone down or not, mine says 31.8g.

It's part of a big marketing scam. A lot of food portions have decreased, with the price staying the same.

The retailers then have a widespread marketing campaign that advertises the fact that they are holding the prices down for you, "helping you beat inflation!", when in actual fact you are paying the same and getting less, so per product are paying more.

I wonder how many people actually realise this.

Examples?

Multibag crisps have always been smaller for as long as I can remember. When has a bag of crisps ever been anything but 70% airspace

What chocolate has got smaller?

Walkers multipacks are the best example I can think of, off the top of my head.

July last year they were 35g/packet, and example £2. This year, both Tesco and Sainsbury's have advertised these as being 'Inflation Busting Buys', but whilst now still being £2, they are down to 25g/packet. Compared to the single packets, last year 42g, now 35g/packet.

Another example is Skips. 25g/packet last year, now down to 17g/packet(!). Same price, less product.

Portions are being sized down, and it's good given the snack food problem in this country. It's just the way retailers are exploiting it thats annoying.

A good example of chocolate getting smaller is Wagon Wheels.

They used to be HUGE, but now they are steadily getting smaller and smaller.

theres one less rolo in a pack of rolos, theres a bigger lid gap in a packet of pringles. And a bigger air gap in a bottle of coke.

It's all to do with keeping the prices down, because of the state of the economy they reduce weight of the product so they can keep prices the same.

nope all 58g now. all shops may not have them but my work buys them in pallets and all new ones are 58g

Interesting I will check that out, the ones in my local tesco are definately 62.5g

Walkers multipacks have always been 25g. I remember whinging about the 25g bags about 10 years ago.

Not sure about skips because they are a lot lighter but multibag crisps always have a bit less than the full retail bags. I think they actually put more into those. They used to be 28g bags for walkers but I think the amount has gone up to 32?

walkers chrisps have got lighter and kept the same prices at the same time they brought out the grab bag things whatever they are called and then made them more expencive very good idea imo

From looking on Google at the old clear style Seabrooke bags, it seems that they've always been 31.8g so I guess the contents got a bit crunched.
