'FIA unhappy with Brundle's BBC move'

Although, his new "F1 must go to boring processional state funded street circuits in the middle east and abandon European circuits or die!" mentality is very sceptical.

Hey, they're willing to pay the money for the show. It's not their problem if the rest of the world is too tight to pay for it.

***edit***

Don't misunderstand me, though. I would much rather see racing in Europe than yet another TilkeDrome in some far off land. But I'd also like to see F1 go to Watkins Glen (in the USA). And Mosport (in Canada). And Paul Ricard (instead of Magny-Cours for all those tedious years). And Estoril, and the Hockenheim we had before they let Tilke loose on the place, and Donny Park.

50% of the problem is European government (with the exception of Racist City... I mean Spain) being unwilling to help support motorsport, and 50% of the problem is Bernie taking money over spectacle.

Well **** me sideways....imagine that, a businessman being out to make money. I'm stunned. ;)

This is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport. It ought to be able to name its own terms so that Bernie could sit back and rake in the money from his business without having to go out and sell F1 to new markets. But it isn't the pinnacle of motorsport any more. It's just a show. And Bernie has to go out to other markets if the show is to go on.

Sorry to interrupt the usual Bernie hate-fest that is almost de rigeur on this forum, but I do have to inject a small amount of balance here - what in flying ****-land does he actually have to do with this nonsense?

It's the FIA who are unhappy, not FOM. You want to set your gunsight on Max Mosley, not Bernard Ecclestone.

Oh, sorry....I'm on OcUK. Got to keep up the party line. How silly of me. LOLOLOL BERNIE ECCLESTONE IS THE DEVIL!!!1111one

Did I get that right?

*sigh*

Thanks JRS :), saved me a post.

Brundle is a legend, and the FIA can go back to their failboat in monaco and drown.

Il fire the torpedo.... Now can someone lend me a u-boat ?

Thats excellent news Martin Brundle has signed for the BBC. He's a joy to watch and listen to and makes watching it more enjoyable. Good news.

Martin and Bernie seem to get along just fine anyway. Martin is forever bumping into him on the grid it seems and then Bernie points in the direction of some celebs :p

And whose fault is that? The public's, the team's or the governing body who have made so many blatantly biased and outright wrong decisions in the last couple of years that everyone is sick to the teeth with them?

The governing body is at fault, IMO. They've done their level best to stamp on creativity from the car designers ever since the end of the '93 season, have made some completely bizarre rulings of late regarding on-track moments, and have a leader who apparently likes to indulge in sadomasochistic orgies with prostitutes - but don't worry folks, there's no hint of Nazi overtones in his role play whatsoever so it's all good....

Can someone please resurrect Jean-Marie Balestre and give him his old job back?

It will be great if DC and MB are commentating together. They'll both be bouncing off each other and it will be fantastic :)

BBC has got it nailed if they get those two together.

DC should be a great grid walker too because he has all the "up to date" contacts and friendships to get a quick interview...

heheh that always make me laugh, especially when Martin tries to ignore the people, and Bernie manhandles him round!

Did not Martin used to manage Daveyboy C? I'm sure I recall martin mentioning it several years ago. If I'm wrong I'll be ever so annoyed.

By all accounts, DC will be a studio based pundit.

Dear FIA

**** off and mind your own business

love the BBC

is how their reply should read. So what if he criticised them, has the FIA turned into soviet russia all of a sudden ?

This would all be fully correct and true.... if the whole of F1 didnt keep bashing on about supposedly pleasing the fans and improving the racing and overtaking.... then just going to the tracks where the money is regardless of the fact overtaking is impossible and ticket prices are sky high.
