Hi guys

I asked the same in the MM about some hard drives, but I'll ask here for maybe a faster answer - can you RAID a 7200.11 with a 7200.10? Both are 500gb barracudas, just that 11 and 10 is confusing me

you can do it will work no problem. What RAID do you want to setup 1 or 0?

I've RAIDED drives of different speeds/makes before but you won't get the best out of them.

I believe that 10 and 11 just mean a slightly different firmware so in essence you will not be losing out. RAID them up go for RAID 0 and enjoy :)

The .10 has only half the cache, is this relevant at all?

I don't want to RAID 0 some up then a week down the line the data is corrupt or something because they are different :o

Actually disregard this, guy was selling .10's for £40 but brand new .11 from OcUK is only £43 with free delivery. So I'll just get that and save the hassle!

Well there will be a slight difference in performance. Think of it as a bottleneck. I think they will both work slightly slower than 2 drives both with a higher cache.

I really don't think you will notice any performance drop though. I like RAID 0 there is no data redundancy that is the risk you take but the performance can be great.

This slight mismatch will not corrupt your data or cause you problems.
:)
