son is playing cod4 with friends and wants a headset as all of the others have them, so many to choose any recomendations?

I'm gonna jump in and say any mono (single earphoned) USB headset. After struggling immensely with Blutooth headsets i've just given up on them, iirc logitech did an official PS2 one that works really well.

[EDIT] The logitech vantage headset is the name.

Can be had for just under £20 inc postage from a quick look around, cheaper than any high end blutooth headset which are the only things that have a chance of giving the same sound quality.

This one, it's great.

I bought a cheap as chips bluetooth headset off the bay, was around (or under) a tenner.

I've lost the charger for it now though ;<

The ultimate problem with blutooth headsets ya see, if the the connectivity issues most people seem to complain of don't get you and the audio playback at your end turns out to be fine is usually that the audio you're sending is utter pants.

I forked out £25 for a fairly decent blutooth headset which i THOUGHT worked perfectly, then i went into a chat session with some mates, none of them could hear me properly, we tested it in game and it was slightly better, but still nowhere near ideal (and miles away from the quality their USB headsets were delivering). I also tried my cheap jabra headset (which works perfectly with my phone) and it was the same issue. Something is borked with the way the PS3 encodes and transfers outgoing audio with (most if not all) blutooth devices i reckon.

I tried 3 bluetooth headsets before ditching them for the USB Logitech as above and its great. Wouldn't bother with bluetooth atm go and spend £20 on the one mentioed above.

Thanks for the tip, ordering one now :)

Scort.

Sorry for the bump, but thought that I may as well rather than starting a new thread. Do the wired headsets need to be connected to the PS3 itself (this sort of negates the point of wireless controllers!) or do the connect to the back of the controller a la the 360. Also, how's the range on bluetooth headsets?

Well Ive pre-ordered SOCOM for it so fingers crossed its good - if its a dud Ill just use it with a phone and keep that Logitech corded one...

I'm using a plantronics 610 usb headset, comes with a 2.9m cable and the usb dongle is separate so if the headset / cable part fails you can just plug in any headset with 3.5mm jacks.

Looks good!!

Dunno when it will be delivered as it is from Canada. I had the Warhawk one before that was quite good. You can only get it with the game though so might be hard to find.
I traded the game recently so had to give headset with it. I am using a Playstation camera as a desktop Microphone and by all accounts the voice quality is quite good at the other end. I think it has some noise cancelling etc on it. Handy if you want camera and mic in one for about 25 quid.

When is the Canadian release date? At first I thought it only came with SOCOM here, but have found it sold in a couple of UK places on its own - the problem was that no release date was given and it cost the same as package in one of the stores :p

Ill happily wait until late Nov for it...

It's already out (Canada/USA dates are the same). Last Tuesday, I think. And then the PSN version came out on Thursday.

Got a Logitech USB Vantage from the states for around £15, came quite quickly too.
