PS3 Owners...

I'll be getting this on the PC purely because of modding. The mods for oblivion turned it from an above average game to an utterly fantastic game, i can see this also being the case here.

Yep... me too. Mods for PS3 are a little lame. Look at poor old Oblivion for PS3 - still cursed with the vampire 'no cure' bug!

its annoying the way the ps3 gets little to no optimizing on multi-platform titles, if it was properly optimized it could reach very close to the pc version.

It is starting to improve, more developers are are starting to realise that it's better to develop games in the PS3 first as it's much easier to port the game to the 360 from the PS3, also doing it this way the games are almost identical as you lose next to no performance in the process.

I'm going assume it's one of those games you should play on a PC regardless if you have a PS3 and 360. People said with Oblivion it's much nicer to sit in the front room and play it on a nice TV. When the PC version got all extra homemade goodies the consoles owns got the sad face. :( If there's achievements on the PC version that would be excellent.

True Mirrors Edge and Skate 2 are leading with the PS3 then porting to the 360 after, that works far better for both consoles.
Any way back to op, I think most people who have a decent PC will get the PC version, unless they want the acheivements, it will as oblivion be the best version and the user mods will make it even better. I never had any intention on getting the PS3 version, but if you dont have a decent spec PC then both console versions will be great.

because when the decision was already teetering on the edge its the little things like that which swing it :p

unfortunately wont be getting it till end of month now as BT decided to steal a big chunk of money off me even though their customer agent promised me at least 3 times on the phone they would not do it (leaving bt tomorrow to skytalk) The **** blatantly lied to me. So its down to the bank again to get it back *sigh*

Yes, it is easier to port a game made for a weaker platform to a stronger one than the other way around as you dont have to scale anything back :)

The thing is, its not just the multi platform games that have problems, many exclusives run poorly on PS3 too.

im suprised people are still saying this tbh. be realistic, that isnt going to happen. look at sonys in house games and they dont look as good as comparable games on the pc (or, shock, the 360 lol). it just doesnt have the graphical horse power at the end of the day. that is far from the be all and end all but its a fact all the same.

Wipeout HD, uncharted, mgs4, LBP, Res 2 all run very poorly on my PS3, they look so bad, also Oblivion, Burnout paradise and DMC4 hardly run at all. I think i will sell my PS3 on your obvious far superior knowledge and experience.

^^ totally agree matey, mgs4 runs like a right dog!

EDIT: edited cuz i'm not quite sure its obvious i'm joking? - i am joking btw ;) :D

Please do some research, it has nothing to do with the games being easier to port from a weaker platform, it does however have everything to do with architecture and programming, developers have even been quoted saying that they may be able to get more performance out of the 360 doing it this way around.

idiot :o

Apologies for not being clear, when i say poorly i mean in comparison to many(but not all) games on 360 by a few frames a second less, sometimes with lower screen res or lower res textures or both. Ive got both platforms and the PS3 is sold as the "most powerfull console" ever and ive seen little evidence of that. Its a very good machine but its had a dissapointing start.

There is no need to get all insecure about it.

Biased quote from Sony VP, in your gamesindustry.biz link:
"As they realise that if you start on the PS3 other platforms look better, it starts to become a no-brainer," he added.
and your quote:
developers have even been quoted saying that they may be able to get more performance out of the 360 doing it this way around.
So you and he are saying, make your game content at a level of detail that will work well on PS3 and then it will run even faster on the 360.

Fair play mate, i keep meaning to make a post like yours but can't ever be bothered to do so. Good work.

the trouble is, its tosh. those links all quote sony as the source (figures), and some going as far as saying the 360 is the weaker platform....is it? this is all about graphics at the end of the day, and the 360 is most certainly not the weaker of the two in that respect. On top of that, those articles date back to last year. 11 months old.....whats the state of multi platform games at this point in time then?

I am still waiting for my Ps3 to blow my 360 away.
Come on Sony you said it.
HD does not start till we say so.
When is that 2012.
