Why oh why can't I enjoy GOW?

I have tried playing through gears of war about 4-5 times now and each time I go back to it, it is just as boring, I really can't get into it, and the multiplayer is the same

To me it just seems like run for the nearest cover and pop out to kill the 1000s of enemies, rinse and repeat

I want to enjoy it like everyone else does, what am I doing wrong?

I can't enjoy RTS games.

Nothing you can do about it, it's not ment to be.

Yeah I dont find it much fun either, feels so repetitive to me.

You can't force yourself to like a game; you can learn to appreciate it but that's about it.

I loved it at the time. I played through twice, once on hardcore and the other on insane and I liked how each battle was a strategic, tense, epic set piece and by no means a walk in the park.

You're doing nothing wrong, it's just not very good...

Having said that I think Bioshock was a fantastic game whereas some people hate it.

Some people just like certain games more than others, don't force it.

Up the difficulty, That way its less about rinsing 1000 enemies, and more about stopping yourself dying, Which is what GOW is about, I'd say you're supposed to fight for you life, Rather than be bored.

Then again, You may just hate it lol

I never thought gears was all that, when it came out I prefered R6 at the time. The AI in gears is appalling. I hope to god they have improved it for the 2nd one.

Gears is all about the weapons.

I enjoyed the first in co-op chatting while playing and always thought a sequel should be 5 times as good. I'm hoping they have delivered. It needs to be atleast 3 or 4 hours longer though.

It's like Halo, they sound too weak.

Gears when it came out i thought wow this is pretty, an hour later i was confused and just trying to to throw something out the window with the stupidly bad cover system.

Still a pretty game though, apart from the level later on with all the glowing river things, that looks horrible imo.

Everybody has different tastes and most likely wont like every type of game.

I myself loved Gears. Turned on the 360, turned off my brain and sat back and enjoyed it for what it was.

Echoing Danny's comment from earlier, I loved the co-op, says more about your mates than the game though.

I still have not even completed this and don't think I ever will unless its on co-op

Which means you have to play it through on casual or hardcore first.

Although I think ill play with someone who has done that already and start on insane co-op. Only played an hour so far but quite liked it but only really want to go through it once on insane so stopped there.

GoW is best played co-op with a friend and at Hardcore difficulty at least!
Casual is so boring!

Also, try and get into the story, it plays quite like a movie. In the past i've found it boring but playing co-op really got me into it again.

Just saying the same as others really, you need to play it on co-op on hardcore. The normal difficulty is very boring
