All thanks to the Guns 'n' Roses

Drinks firm Dr Pepper have confirmed that they will honour their pledge to give away a free can of their drink to every American citizen if Guns N Roses release their 'Chinese Democracy' album in 2008.

Dr Pepper made the Guns N' Roses pledge in March. The album had been in the production since 1993.

Earlier this month it was reported that 'Chinese Democracy' will be released in November.

The drinks firm have announced that American fans that register at Drpepper.com within 24 hours of the album being released in the USA on November 23, will receive a voucher for a free can within six weeks.

A spokesperson for Dr Pepper told BBC News that former Guns N Roses guitarists Slash and Buckethead would be excluded from the offer.

Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' will be released in the UK on November 24.

The title track of 'Chinese Democracy' was premiered on UK and US radio on (October 22). Have your say about the song at the NME Guns N' Roses 'Chinese Democracy' blog.

Plus see NME's Guns N' Roses 'Chinese Democracy' photo gallery.

In other 'Chinese Democracy' news, US blogger Kevin Cogill pleaded not guilty to copyright infringement two days ago (October 20). He admitted to streaming leaked tracks from the album online.

Great marketing Tactic and such a great idea:D

Lol! How very childish sounding; "Every single person in the United States of America!!!!!..... except you, and you.":D

I'm wondering who would bother going to the effort of claiming ONE free can of Dr Pepper and i can imagine the companies banking on the same notion.

they are not holding to their pledge, only if you register and have heard about this and actually like the drink, then you will gain a free can.

not the same as shipping out 1 can of dr. pepper to every address, which is what they made it sound like.

thsi will be no more costly than any other free web give away from companies like this

D.P is my fave drink ever. I might get a flight to the states and try and get a green card in order to claim a free can.

I like it THAT much

Doubt it'll end up costing them that much, as if indeed it does happen, their servers will probably fall like dominoes. It'll be like when the competition for tickets to see Led Zeppelin at the O2 opened.

On the other hand, it's a seriously good marketing gimmick.

The site to register on is apparently only open for 24 hours, so everyone in the US who knows about it will try and access the site in that time. Very high chance for the site to die and them not having to send any out.
