Just picked up one of these puppies quite cheap. They seem like a winning combo in overclocking, high multi (12.5) and low FSB (800Mhz).

I was wondering if anyone else had these chips and what kind of clocks they are getting out of them? My current O/C:



Idle: 42
Load: 62
Cooling: Scythe Ninja Rev B w/ 800rpm fan
vCore: 1.375

What is a safe 24/7 voltage?
What kind of load temps should I be looking at?
 
I've booted into windows at 4Ghz but I cant seem to get it stable regardless of what voltage I select. Tried all the way up to 1.4375 but it falls over on Prime95 within 5mins.

Also I cant seem to find a guide on what are safe voltage options in the BIOS using the Asus P5Q-E motherboard. I've put the FSB termination, CPU PLL etc all up by 0.1v but its made no difference.

3.5Ghz should be pretty easy, at stock vCore I was 18hour Prime stable at 3.45Ghz.

Is that prime stable at that speed? Just could'nt get mine stable at 3.8Ghz even though it will boot into windows and run some benchies at 4Ghz. like yours though it will not get stable despite increasing the voltage. Currently settled at 3.6Ghz with 1.325v. It also does 3.3Ghz on 1.16v. Personally i will not give mine any more than 1.425v. I learnt my lesson with a E8500.

Yes its stable at this speed, had Prime95 + Orthos running overnight on both cores to really torture it.

I'll have a fiddle around with the BIOS later tonight and see if I can get it stable at 4Ghz, if not then 3.9Ghz will have to do (Pushed it to 313Mhz FSB for 3.912Ghz).

Going from your experience with the E8500, I shouldnt put more than 1.425v if I want this chip to last then. I've read countless stories where people pushed the CPU PLL/SB Voltage and killed the CPU even with 1.4v.

Yes. Small FFTs on both Orthos and Prime95. Although using S&M Burn in, my load temp climbs to 69C but it isn't a good indication of stability. I use S&M Burn In to find the absolute max load core temperature.

Both at the same time is a bit overkill to test for stability!

Aye but I have had bad experiences in the past which lead to data corruption.
Ran Prime95 + Orthos + Rthdribl at first on the stock vcore overclock. Brings the whole system to its knees inc graphics (making sure the chipset etc can handle it etc).

His CPU seems rock solid at 4Ghz using the same vCore I am at 3.91Ghz. Check out the suicide LN2 screen :shock:

Settled on this as a 24/7 overclock. Nice low vCore (1.35) and decent memory O/C. Might be able to lower timings a bit and throw in the final 4GB.

Very nice. I think i need to find my max. That's a job for next week although i don't think it will beat that. What FPO/Batch # is yours?

There's something strange about that one on XS. I have never heard of one booting at over 340mhz yet he's running at 440. I think i need to do some more testing with mine although i am not going to kill it.

FPO/Batch: Q832A482

His CPU has the lowest VID I've seen on a e5200 (1.125v). 440FSB was done with 1.9v.

Mines a 3827A333 with a 1.1625v vid. Looking at the pack date, mines quite early at 10/08/08. Oh well, i am happy with it at £52 delivered. 1.9v is mad. :eek:
 
Well Ive only had mine for a week & I'm new to Intel/coreduo

I think I need to back off the fsb & up the multi?? It's on an IP43 mobo & G.Skill PC2-8000C5

Any advice appreciated:)

360 fsb. Nice. Just try upping the multiplier .5 at a time. It will be interesting to see how far you can get.

I am declaring war on mine from Monday. Maybe i just hit a fsb hole. :D

can anyone tell me what to set mine up to get 3.5ghz ?

e5200
Gigabyte P45-DS3 flashed to F9 (latest bios)
2x2gb PC6400 OCZ REAPER
Tuniq Tower 120 on permanenet max fanspeed as pc shop lost my rheostat :(
 
Leave all the volts on Auto, set the FSB to 280 and the vCore to 1.3. Increase volts, lower multi and increase FSB as required.

Thats all you need to do to hit 3.5Ghz. Once you found a stable vCore for 3.5Ghz, lower the Multi and increase FSB to overclock your RAM. Increase RAM voltage/loosen timings as required.
