Relative has offered a xmas gift. Only thing I need/want (well besides naked chix that wash dishes) is a new aftershave.

I currently use Giorgio Armani (Emporio City Glam For Him) and in reverse chronological order used Hugo Boss (Boss Grey), Tommy Hilfiger (Tommy Man) and Hugo Boss (Boss in Motion).

What is a nice aftershave/scent for a 28 year old that smells good and you guys would recommend?

Im not an aftershave afficionado but instead of going to smell 1 million different scents.....what should I focus on?

*apologies if a thread like this has been posted before but lets start a new one :) *

For something a little more unusual, try Davidoff Cool Water or (depending on budget) Lalique, which comes in a great bottle.

"CK One" I like but it doesn't last very long..

"Fahrenheit" is my all time favourite, seems to last forever. :D

Well, they're all going to 'smell good', as that's their sole reason for being ;)

If you'd like some guidance from men's fragrance enthusiasts [yes, they do exist *raises hand*], check out the latest Basenotes award winners:

http://www.basenotes.net/awards/2008/mbest.html

Have a browse through the categories on the right, read the reviews and see if anything takes your fancy. Draw up a shortlist of those you'd like to try, and pop along to a half-decent department store if you can to try them on your skin before you start dropping heavy hints toward your gift-giving relative. I can't stress how important it is to test on your skin - you'd be amazed at how much skin chemistry changes the way a fragrance smells to you and others.

Some Creeds are fabulous, but they're not the be-all and end-all of men's fragrances. Besides which, the average person would probably baulk at coughing up anywhere between £50-£150 for a scent.

Ultimately, your only guide should be your nose :)

Creed is very nice but also costly at around £40-100 a bottle.

I just got some CK One (very nice) and CK Crave (also not bad). Gucci Pour Homme II is really nice.

Thanks for all the tips. I have complied a list to smell when I go to the store:

Green Irish Tweed (1985) by Creed
A*Men / Angel Men (1996) by Thierry Mugler
Terre d'Hermès (2006) by Hermès
Vetiver (1961) by Guerlain
Cool Water (1988) by Davidoff
CK One
Joop go!
Paco Rabanne - Ultraviolet
Chanel Allure Homme
Gucci Pour Homme II
Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Men
