London to Ashford (my hometown) in 36 minutes would be immense. Liverpool to Ashford in about 3 3/4 hours would be impressive. Compared to 8 hours a few years ago

About time too, the British rail network is a total farce.

It's in interesting reflection on how far the UK railways have sunk, that the country which invented them has to buy rolling stock from Japan.

Do we really need trains that equal the speed of places like Japan? Its not like our country is that big, if it was that fast it would hardly ever reach top speed before having to make the next stop.
