FARCRY 2 --- Officially , official of official threads! ---

I had those freaky colours with the hotfix driver so uninstalled them and went back to 8.10s....I don't think the driver is the cause I think you will just need to uninstall and reinstall, worked for me.

Just ran the following benchmark

Settings: Demo(Ranch Medium), 1920x1200 (60Hz), D3D10, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(8x), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Ultra High), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Ultra High), Terrain(Ultra High), Geometry(Ultra High), Post FX(High), Texture(Ultra High), Shadow(Ultra High), Ambient(High), Hdr(Yes), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)

So basically everything maxxed out

With the 8.10 drivers the results were

* Average Framerate: 40.12
* Max. Framerate: 69.12
* Min. Framerate: 9.70

With the hotfix driver the results were

* Average Framerate: 46.26
* Max. Framerate: 94.12
* Min. Framerate: 10.89

So a nice 6fps increase, so about a 15% increase.

PC spec in the sig.

Taff

Am I the only person that was really rather disapointed with this game? I bought it off all the rave reviews and i cant be bothered with playing it. You can shoot someone with a vehicle mounted machine gun from close range and they wont always be dead....wtf?

Rubbish game tbh

Anyone know of a mod that turns off respawning enemies yet? Until this happens I dont think I can play much more. Its bad enough having to trek for miles to the next objective, but it takes so much longer when u have to stop every 10 seconds to shoot 5 enemies!

Just got into Act 2 and I must say I'm rather impressed. Some story development, and a whole new map to play with! Maybe this game isn't so bad after all.

Well after much tooing and froing, ive really got into this game now, in fact i love it!

Was just out way way way in some sandu dune area with a camp with a train track running through it and bombed the lot! :D wooop.

Do trains make an appearance in this game doees anyone know?:)

Would love to bomb one hehe, or just for the eye candy!

Did you read the thread at all?

And every time I've shot someone with the mounted machine gun they've died quite happily, not sure what you're on about really.

I'm the same...was a bit hit and miss when first started but I've just done some of the bigger missions and I'm really starting to get into it more

Ok so its annoying how all the guards come back when you clear a check point, but the games still fun to play

I've had my first taste of checkpoints. Yet to find one I can't just burn through in a jeep, pull up a few hundred yards down the road, swap to gun and mow down the chasing jeeps/gunners.

Whats the big deal?

For me, a bitter jaded gaming cynic, Far Cry 2 has gone like this:

1. Installed it, put on very high settings, it ran a bit jerkily
2. Changed the graphics settings, running at medium, decent FPS, good visuals still
3. Got a bit bored, quit after 10 mins or so, considered putting it on 'the shelf'
4. Came back to it
5. Got into it more, did a few missions, felt a bit like a 1st person GTA in Africa
6. Couldn't wait to get home and play a few more missions, and plug some random idiots in the head with a sniper rifle
7. Repeat 5-6 a few more times

i think the games fantastic and looks great, everything on high-v high with my 3850 512mb:)

only one problem though, i've installed it twice. the first time avast picked up this, mastroschka_launcher and the descirtion says trogan-gen. so i uninstalled it and on the second install it picked up the same thing, both times near the end of the installation.

anyone else had this and is it harmful?

Agreed, it lacks more or less every single trait that makes a good game, a good story, immersion and a sense of actually having something to do. The combats are fine, when they aren't bugged, graphics = awesome, but it's just not fun.

what level are you on, you should try infamous, im on infamous and if i try to swap to mounted gun while being chased im dead. i have to step out the jeep and use it as cover.

with me i enjoy a game more if its hard, this is one of the reasons why im enjoying fc2 more than either crysis, crysis was way too easy even on delta

I find that in Crysis you can hide behind the abilities of the combat suite which makes the difficulties of bush/jungle combat irrelevant. With Far Cry 2 I have had some excellent gun fights having to retreat, listen and observe the foliage for movement so as to locate enemies, just like real bush warfare. When in doubt just burn them out. I am addicted to my bolt action sniper rifle as this has to be one of the best sniping games I have played. The only rubbish thing is that my FPS drop from 35 to 20 every time I zoom in.

Agreed, that’s exactly what I do. I rarely stop at one unless its one I haven’t cleared out before or if its quite close to my objective.
