BBC Issue apology over Ross/Brand 'Prank'

I personally don't think they are responsible for societies attitudes, but what they did is basically show a younger or more susceptible audience (because let's be fair thats all that listen to Brand):

"Hey look, its alright to be ****s to people you don't know, as long as its funny".

It's a negative spiral that only goes down.

If that's the case he's also responsible for sexual promiscuity, the fall in numbers of people voting, the secular society and people wearing tight fitting trousers. Every week his broadcasts make reference to all the above but i'm yet to see a thread condemning his influence on those matters.

I think the majority of people (and that includes younger audiences - a little patronising?) are a little more intelligent than you give them credit for.

I can't believe anyone could possibly prefer Woss to Parky

Woss is OK. Probably above average. Parky was the best.

Sentimental claptrap.

Parky's interviews were all fluff and no substance whatsoever. Not that Ross is much better but at least he doesn't claim to be.

To be honest the amount of skinny jeans wearing mother ****ers has increased significantly since Russell Brand appeared on the scene in the past few years...

I am sure its all one big coincidence.

From what you said MTA I think that Brand at least is a product and contributing factor of society as it stands.

Can't stand Russell Brand, shock Jock, no substance what so ever, how junkies or ex-junkie can manage to have such a presence in the media is beyond me..

Give it a break, he has to make sure it's drilled into us that we know that he has slept with this girl or this girl, i mean where is the humilty, honour, manliness in that...?

Brands reads dictionaries to use big words and makes notes on them to put into his shows. So its all false.

I mean he played a robber in the Bill FFS.

i think it's being blown out of all proportion, (as usuall), this is the fault of the editors NOT JR and RB, the editors should have picked this up much sooner.

I think there are more important things to sort out first... how about the firebombing of the Daily Mail headquarters? :\. The rubbish the the Daily Mail prints does more damage than one dude wearing skinny jeans :|.

True, but the Daily Mail doesn't wear skinny jeans......

I think you missed the point of my post.

Brand has been broadcasting on the BBC (6music and R2) for 3-4years now. If he is *so* influential why has this influence not been noticed sooner?

Can't stand Brand, one of the most annoying irritating people I've ever seen on tv, Ross used to be ok several years ago but now he's also annoying and talentless overated crap and up his own you know what, he just thinks he's this funny institution and he aint in the slightest, I wouldnt even give him a 5 min slot at a working mens club

I watched his show last week out of interest in hearing what Mr Craig had to say and found Ross's act just cheap, 100% predictable talentless crap

Over this pathetic event with Sachs they should both be sacked, end of. Wouldnt even discuss it with them, no debate, no argument just theres the front door, goodbye

Ross should really know better, given his experience.

Brand is just an idiot, and should be put out of his misery.

Enough people enjoy their comedy and see this for what it really is to keep them. Any one who says they should go because of this never really liked them or appreciated their humour to start with.

It's not nice to tell someone that you slept with their grandaughter, granted, but this is being blown out of all proportion on account of who it was said to.

Shame that they have to go to such poor levels of "supposed" humour to get a laugh.
Sachs was a comedy legend and has actually acted the most adult out of the lot of them in regard to this episode.
Both Ross and Brand love the sound of their own voice too much, Ross always trying to overshadow his guests and Brand just trying to outshock almost everyone.

I suppose that if it was your grandparent they had called, saying stuff like this, you would still find it funny??

Thing is, I don't see why it has caused this much of a fuss. It crossed the line, it's not a nice thing to say to a grandfather but why is this carrying on and reaching parliament? They have apologised, the BBC won't sack them so why doesn't it just get dropped? Perhaps it's a newsworthy item as it isn't related to the credit crunch... who knows.

I thought that them questioning whether Sachs would hang himself was worse than what was said about his grandaughter personally...

I doubt I would, but then to say my grandparents or myself have never had a laugh at someone else's expense would be a lie. Like I said everyone's just kicking up a fuss because of who it is.

Even that's not really that bad at all if you consider Brand's humour in general. You just take him as he is and if you don't like it then switch off. He's not really been any worse than he's ever been.

Exactly, if you watch stand up you will see far more offensive material. Big fuss over nothing!
