Well it looks like they lied about it just being a moderator overstepping the line when he said that people would have thie spore accounts banned for posting things EA don;t like on the forums.

Well, its actually going to be a bit nastier for those who get banned.

Your forum account will be directly tied to your Master EA Account, so if we ban you on the forums, you would be banned from the game as well since the login process is the same. And you'd actually be banned from your other EA games as well since its all tied to your account. So if you have SPORE and Red Alert 3 and you get yourself banned on our forums or in-game, well, your SPORE account would be banned to. It's all one in the same, so I strongly reccommend people play nice and act mature.

All in all, we expect people to come on here and abide by our ToS. We hate banning people, it makes our lives a lot tougher, but its what we have to do.

Those banned will stay banned, but like most other internet services, its not that hard to create a new fake e-mail account. However, its a lot harder to get a new serial key =)

Avatars should be back within 2 weeks of the launch.

Ah, good to see EA crushing free speech. Mind you, theres many forums id love to be able to kill the kiddies on (ahem!) but it depends on what theyre whipping the ban stick about for.

WIN FOR PIRACY!

Sad, but true.

It is totally out of line linking the two together. Fair enough, some people may get out of line of forums, but when people get angry over something they need a means to vent.

This gives forum moderators far more power than they should ever have. After all, the customer has paid for the game.

The tactics being employed by games publishers for pc are just getting unbelievable now.

aint you steam account tied to th valve forums in the same way? and your wow account with the blizzard forum

dont realy see what is the problem is just dont go on ea forums acting stupid

trouble is though that a lot of the dissent on the spore boards was about the drm and the account limited to 1 person per key, meaning that families each had to buy their own copy. to me, you're perfectly justified in voicing your opinion about that (although there are obvious limits).

the easy answer of course is just to avoid the official ea forums and go somewhere else.

So your banned from the EA Spore forum which means you can not play ANY EA game?

WIN FOR PIRACY!

Sadly I agree, They really are not helping themselves. They are just making it harder and harder and more painfully difficult for players who have genuinely bought the game.

Where if your a pirate its d/l iso most likely with crack install instant joy :)

This still doesnt mean I will stop buying games, but this is frankly taking the **** !!!

I have no idea about the steam front, but with WoW you can get banned from either the game or the forum. One ban on the forum bans you from the forum not the game and visa versa.

EA are saying you get banned from the spore forum you aint playing any EA games online again ! Personnally i think thats just bang outta order

edit: noob double post yea yea :p

This may well mark the beginning of EA's slow yet inevitable downfall as far as the PC market is concerned. I have never trusted EA with account details of any kind and nor will I in the future.

This is madness...

At this rate they will only be able to sell console games. Personally I don't like piracy, but this is tipping the edge and I certainly will not be buying any EA games for the PC, probably even console ones.
