BFG GTX 280 Prices

Code:
Live rates at 2008.10.30 13:32:16 UTC

1.00 GBP = 1.64526 USD

United Kingdom Pounds United States Dollars
1 GBP = 1.64526 USD 1 USD = 0.607808 GBP

Basically, we're ****ed :D I remember when it used to be 1:2 :(

The exchange rate does seem to be improving a little after the US cut their interest rates earlier this week. It's looking like the UK interest rates will also be cut soon - I don't know if this will cause the exchange rate to drop again.

I'm grateful for the small improvement now as I'm going to the US next week!

I don't understand

How can the conversion from dollars to pounds be lower than pounds to dollars?

Also why is the Dollar rate used for components? The products come from China and Japan so shouldn't the HKdollar be used?

???? They are the same.

And as for your second question, that is just the way it is with certain commodities. For example world prices of oil is always in us dollars despite the fact most of the oil comes from the arabic countries. Same with electronic components, they are traded in dollars.

Even if they are made in eastern europe, which some are, the euro exchange to the pound has been affected as badly as the dollar/pound exchange.

No, please check again. The 'BFG GeForce GTX 280 OCX' costs the same as 'BFG GeForce GTX 280 OC'. Both cost £299.99 + VAT....

New stock vs old stock.

Exchange rates have altered by 20% in the last month and 10% in the last week.

Therefore, if you still have stock from a month ago and retcoked now it would have to be 20% dearer.

Even new stuff coming in compared to a week ago would be 10% dearer.

Therefore the OC is new stock an bought recently at higher prices whereas the OCX must have had it price agreed fro purchase at least a week ago and hence is the same price even if it is on pre-order.

Once the pre-order ones have all been sold, expect the OCX to be 10% or more expensive again.

SImple as that. THe OCX is currently a bargain. In another week the OC might even be 10% more than the OCX.

You get weird things in this current climate.........

Interesting when you read into it all. You will then understand why dollars are used globally.
