EA Ties Forum Accounts to game accounts.

I think the online services are simply freebies, you aren't granted any rights to use them when you buy the game, so they can revoke the service at will. I don't like what they are doing, it's lowered my already poor opinion of EA even further, but i don't think there is any legal ground to challenge them.

There's no way to run your own server outside of the EA login system is there? So you can't really call it a "freebie" if they have exclusive control over who hosts Battlefield games...

Hardly, for something like BF its the core of the game! Bet the EULA doesnt mention anything about the forums.....stinks of illegality to me

You aren't promised permanent use of the multiplayer when you buy it, neither by EA nor by the law, but it might be a different matter if you were paying for use of the service directly.

You can still play the game offline though, which is the only thing the law protects.

I now avoid all EA games on all formats, its the only way to fight exploitative large business. I used to buy their games because I liked some of them but not that much that I will except being exploited.

tbh they have lost me as a customer, a shame as I was going to get Warhead of steam after trying far cry 2 and h8ing it (because its a console game). But I wont give them any more money.

kinda odd tho even tho ea seem to want to kill pc gaming there making a ton of money off it 2 of there 4 top sellers are pc games (warhammer online + spore)

most money goes to valve (steam) and crytek (the makers) ea only working as partner so they dont get as much as they would get off retail from you so still buy it

What are people complaining about, its not like they are going to ban you for bad mouthing the game.

If someone is posting stuff that would have their in-game account banned on the forums why shouldnt their game account be banned?

EA are a festering cancer on the gaming industry.

If you get banned from Steam all your games get deleted potentially losing you hundreds and hundreds of pounds.
