Ross suffered another financial blow yesterday when ITV1 announced he would not be presenting the Comedy Awards next month. He was due to be paid £100,000 for hosting the show, which is broadcast live, in December. The decision was taken in mutual agreement with ITV1.Pay me 10-40 Grand Not bad for a nights work.

I am sure 100k will dent his bank balance, he gets Xmas off and some time with his family, he wont miss the money for 3 months, but I am sure showing films such as speed which is 14 years old will hurt the viewing figures.

The Metro had about 7 jokes in it yesturday from comedy programs from the BBC, I remember a certain black joke containing a reference to the queen from The Office a number of years back, didnt see a massive racist uproar then.

Country needs to get a grip, that girl was quick to sell the details to The Sun and she has a group called The Satanic *****, and The Sun seem to be running that headline today.

"The girls (Satanic *****) are due to appear on Gordon Ramsey’s Cookalong on Channel 4 on Friday night."

Andrew must be so proud.

Pah poor Ross and Brand I can't believe they got 30 000 complaints lol.

I liked Ross although his taste in Movies was awful...rather like his puns :p

I just don't understand the people that absorb everything these papers say as fact and form it as their own opinion without regard...

lethal control of a population this media we have

I never read UK papers as they are rarely interesting before the sports pages.

Seen this news item on holiday when I was having a pub lunch and they annoyingly had the tv on SKY "NEWS" (quotes are mine) as a "TOP STORY"

I nearly choked on my "ALL day English Brekkie"

Good to see the world is such good shape that this is top news. So glad the economy is doing great and we don't have any more sucide bombs or other world atrocities :D

Just reminded me as to why I don't watch SKY or any other 24 H news channel.

Why do so many still persist in going down the route of saying their are more important things in the world and the UK to worry about, all the examples being used are outside the responsibility of the BBC and Ofcom and are therefore irrelevant. Regulations are regulations and are there for a reason and the BBC are obliged to adhere to them and Ofcom responsible to regulate them.

Yes there are far far far more important things to worry about but that doesn't mean at the expense of turning a blind eye to other issues.

In the general discussion thread if you order the view by number of replies theres only half a dozen threads with more replies, non of which are based on the more important things in the world to discuss, quite ironic considering how many people enter the thread and say they either don't care and/or say there are more important things to worry about

As for the Facebook situation, considering the comments on the 30,000+ people who complained, I cant help seeing the facebook developments as a tad fickle and hypocritical to be fair, at least those who complained went through the correct channels, not Facebook lol :p

As opposed to our informed Daily Mail readers, who ignored that only 2 of the 400,000 listeners of the program were offended enough to complain, took it upon themselves a week later - once informed by the bastion of good taste The Daily Mail - to complain about something they'd not actually listened to themselves!

Fickle?

Hypocritical?

Hmmm....

If Ross wants to make wise cracks about journalists getting axed and that his salary could buy 2000 journailst's then he got what he deserved in my book.

After all they are just getting their own back.

The whole facebook thing is so sad people need to stop caring about celebrities.

Really who cares about Ross and Brand?

They don't give a flying "£$% about any of you.

They reek of narcissism so much they can't even smell their own BS broadcast out on the Radio.:p

When will people this is NOT about Ross and Brand. It could be Chaz and Dave for all I care... It's actually about:-
a) The fact the matter is far from 'obscene' - And certainly not worth the second biggest complaint ever to the BBC, and debating in the House of Commons. Listen to it... It's not worthy of the witch hunt we've seen!
b) The Daily Mail has rounded up a group of sheep week(s) after the event and bent the country around their little finger! Trial by Daily Mail! It's dispicable.

What you'll find is it's only of concern to those complaining it's Ross and Brand, and the fact is these people have other axes to grind.... And they're simply using this matter to justify it!

So that's 2 people complain on or as near to the date of the broadcast compared to the best part of 15,000 now nearly 2 weeks later jumping on the facebook bandwagon, that's no different to the thousands who complained to the BBC and Ofcom days and days after the broadcast, you know the ones commonly referred to in this thread by many as idiots

I'm not suggesting anyone who has added this to Facebook are likewise, but if everyone on here thought complaining was stupid then this is no different, you cant have it both ways

And why oh why elect to do this on the likes of Facebook lol, why not ring Ofcom to complain about Ofcom's decision (which you can actually do)

Ross appeared at the British Comedy Awards, where he joked his salary meant he was "worth 1,000 BBC journalists".

The comment was made at a particularly delicate time as the BBC had just announced it was to make more than 2,000 members of staff redundant.

If Ross wants to make wise cracks about journalists getting axed and that his salary could buy 2000 journailst's then he got what he deserved in my book.

After all they are just getting their own back.

Why would the Daily Mail care about BBC journalists? You're misrepresenting information that you posted!:confused:

To summarize your stance on a) By definition you now need to contact Ofcom to tell them their regulations are either wrong or too strict or misguided

As for Ross and Brand, it appears to me that the opposite also applies to not liking them in that some appear to think that because it is them, that it somehow justifies what happened, and because they like their humour, which is irrelevant. I'd have said the same all along if it'd been anyone.

Very true

The original complaints were prob about the event, not the artists, whereas the facebook stuff appears to be about the artists, not the event. If thats the case then this isn't impartial and quite sad

And to think, we're carpet bombing Iraq while this is happening.

Oh, the obsenity...

Not that I'm particularly bothered about Iraq but, and this has been said already, it doesn't ******* matter. Its not an issue of life and death and those retards at the Daily Mail can go jump. "Oh, moral outrage, oh I must be outraged!". Who actually gives a damn either way. Ross isn't going to suffer, he's made millions anyway and this is all brilliant publicity for him. Brand's career came from nothing it appears and for him to be a part of such an event is a gift from heaven.

The only losers out of all of this are, as usual, the British public as they have been taken for saps and mugs yet again. I don't care either way. The thing that angers me most is watching other people (DM readers) get all angry. They need some serious reality checks in their lives.

No swearing

Your relentless puerile stupidity is completely exasperating! If nobody should care about celebrities, why have you made far more posts in this thread than anyone else?

As has been pointed out many, many times already, the issue is with newspapers creating a baying mob in order to sell newspapers. People are jumping on the bandwagon because they relish the opportunity to punish a celebrity for not being to their personal taste. Everyone accepts that rules were broken and punishment need be meted, but the whole thing has become completely disproportionate.

You many times have professed that you don't like either of the presenters, yet you persist in claiming indifference while peddling the same line about rule breaking. Over and over again you try to score self perceived 'points' in this discussion yet I have seen nothing from you that suggests even a modicum of intelligence and see you as nothing more than an attention seeker.

You were 'disappointed' last night when nobody responded to one of your posts? Well it was Friday night and people with something other to do than troll the internet were out enjoying themselves.

LOL, now Sachs granddaughter is appearing on Gordon Ramsey soon, Ross and Russell getting all the stick and now she's getting TV appearances off it.

What a load of tosh, it wasn't that bad in the first place what they said, an apology was more than enough.

I take it she doesn't care much for what she gets called either, considering she's in a group called "The Satanic *****"
