Dead Space Is Awesome!!

For a game that started off superbly, it just gets irritating towards the latter chapters 7+. "Isaac goto the toilet and use the loo quick!"
"Oh no, toilet not working? Isaac go to chapter 1 and get a handle whilst fighting of hoardes of predictable beasties!"
"Oh no, isaac this door is shut...go and find a key"
"Would you kindly bend over isaac?"

It just goes on and on and gets so predictable. Nothing flipping works and the 'chores' or running around you have to do is almost as bad as Fable 2. I'm on chapter 12 now and pray that this is the sodding ending or i'll top myself.

All games like that imo you always running around doing something for others i don't mind that, so far think am on chapter 4 and am enjoying it that's not to say i will finish it as my attention span for games goes now a days.

graphics are a little pap really - a lot of horrible console heritage there. Still, so far so good. Played about 8mins so far (lol) and have turned off to watch the GP

How long would you say this game takes to complete? Less than 8 hours?

Game is cited as 10 hours, however for once i think it'll take me LONGER than that. Tis taking me 1 hour per chapter so far (with 12 chapters), i've been taking it slow, checking those corners and just taking in the atmosphere.

This game looks better the further you get into it!

Finished it this morning. Thankfully Chapter 11-12 are rather short but pretty hard since there are predictable spawns all over the place. End boss was rather simple (easier than the lev), just have lots of ammo ready. The very ending is a bit shocking though.

Overall a very good game from EA (never thought I'd say that). It gets repetitive with a rather small selection of rehashed enemies and some rather boring weapons but there are lots of well scripted moments that make it a good blast.

Not read through the 11 pages yet, but can you change the viedw as the over the shoulder view is anoying as hell.

Also, on the very 1st bit, when your told - run for it - i guess you cant attack anything or has my install gone nuts?

Nice graphics though. scary too lol.. lovely.

No, however the camera is MEANT to be intrusive as it adds to the atmosphere imo.

Nope, can't attack, just run, run as fast as you can.

The graphics are nothing mind blowing, though they're clean, polished and do the job they set out to do. This game scares the crud out of me, though i've decided to stop playing and obtain it for the PS3 now as i imagine full on surround sound (not available for the PC) will add to the atmosphere immensely.

:o yes I do ! But I don't fancy having to go under window everytime to copy the pictures in paint to save it. I'm talking about a in game feature so it creates automatically the screenshot...

Fraps is your best bet imo.

I think the graphics are great, particularly the lighting.

Fantastic how well it runs though.

Using my Xonar with Dolby Headphone mode I get surround sound through my phones, very distinctive too can easily tell where stuff is coming from, it's more atmospheric than speakers imo as it's right in the back of your skull.

I have it on PC and 360 though, prefer it on 360 because it's not as scary sitting a bit further back with speakers instead of headphones. :p

It does support full 5.1, its what i play mine in, have a closer look at the audio menu, i missed it first time.

The downmix in this games 5.1 is truelly horrific, the ship sounds like its in pain, you can hear the hull groaning and moaning, and in the distance you can hear screams, roars, and then screams again...

Stereo is excellent for me (Xonar soundcard) - very atmospheric and spacial/surround as you'd expect.

A pair of good quality, fullsized, circumaural headphones sounds pretty much like surround sound to me, plus you can pick up the most subtle of details, without having to listen at ear bleeding levels (great for late night gaming, when you don't want to hassle your neighbours :D).
