This is probably often asked, I did search...but I'm new to the consoles section. :)

Having seen this thread and having played on the xbox all weekend I've decided I need some good new games.

I currently have;
Crackdown
Grand Theft Auto IV
Project Gotham Racing 4
Bioshock
Mass Effect
Call of Duty 4
Halo 3

The only game I've completed (story-wise, not done all of the jumps etc. yet) is GTA4, and I'm sure if I chuck one of the other game discs in I'll complete them soon enough too, but I'd like to get some more games.

I'm not a great fan of FPS games on consoles as I'm used to keyboard and mouse so the gamepad is 'wrong' for playing them. I'm also not interested in foot ball really, or other sports.

I'm very tempted to buy Mirror's Edge on release though as it seems really good, but that's a few weeks away.

I've also been out of the loop with games in general so don't know a great deal about what there is. So...what games are good on consoles/the 360?

Lots of great games. A selection of my own personal favourites are:

Dead Rising
Gears of War
Assassin's Creed
Fable 2
Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
Test Drive Unlimited
Burnout: Paradise
GRAW
Oblivion
The Darkness

and now I'd add Fallout 3.

Is Fallout 3 good on the console? The FPS part of it makes me a little weary of it.

I've heard good things about Dead Space...well I've heard it's good on PC but is a naff port..which means it should be better on the console. :D

I've played Assassin's Creed on PC...it was good, but got a bit samey...may pick it up from the bay though.

I'll see if I can get demos of the others though, cheers. :)

Im in the same position really. I too am a fps pc gamer nnot consol and not really into sports games.

Personaly i cant see why anyone would ever suggest oblivion on consol to someone who has a gamign pc. Thats just mental. The game is no where nenar as good with the mods. I had 9gb of mods and it made it a totaly awsome game till i tryed update the biggest one and it went a bit wrong and was never bothered in fixing it lol. Had yellow questionmarks all over the place :p

Id probably get any game like fall out 3 o pc because of the fps and because of mods as well.

As for assasins creed, i beleive it to flow a bit better control wize on the consol, but ive only very breifly played it on pc but have the game on consol. Yeah it gets a bit samey and if you played it all the way through on pc i cant see you getting that much out of buying it on consol tbh.

Test drive unlimited is a great game with the worlds worst multiplayer support for pc. Infact i think its non existant i dont think online works any more., ITs a shame coz i really wanted to race around with my mates on pc. But if xbox live support is good for it id recomend it.

IM really struggling for games to get for consol tbh, borrowing fable 2. Its actually lasting me quite a while im impressed but it is very easy. YOu probably wont die more then once or twice and not at all in the first 3/4 proably. There is no difficult chalange in fable2 just like its predicesor, just a great sence of collecting things and completing things. But im still enjoying it even though there is no chalange really.

See I've never really been much for the full on fantasy RPG type of games, else I would pick up Fable 2. As for sports, I did enjoy playing an old version of Tiger Woods on the PS2, which I don't understand as I hate golf. :p

I did play TDU on PC, and offline was quite repetitive, but it was quite fun too, and MP would be quite cool I'd have thought. I didn't play a great deal through AC as I wiped my PC shortly after (for other reasons) and never put it back on.

I love PC games, but don't get much graphically out of them because my PC is getting old and upgrading seems a silly path when a console is so much cheaper.

I had one of the Burnout games on PS2 and that was brilliant fun, so I will likely get Paradise.

I found TDU to be a far better experience through Xbox live than through the PC. Far less buggy and more reliable. Still quite a lot of people play it too so you'll always find people driving around.

Even if you're not a fan of console FPS', I'd still recommend trying The Darkness. I've been playing it for the first time today and it's quite excellent. Picked it up for £10 brand new aswell.

Burn out is a great game. Full auto is like burn out with guns, ment to be really actionpacked online as well. ID look into that. I love it, play it round a friends.

As for TDU, yeah i found it got very frustrating which made you not wana play, but then ud what youd been trying to do and be like yeah and get the lil kick to do another and go through the loop. I did get bored of it in the end though befoer i completed it. Still had a laugh though.

Depending on your finances i would say getting a consol would be a silly path also. FPS and stratergy are quite naff on consol to me. I know you can practice using a consol to get good at fps, but it doesn't beat pc's and i rather the comunity on pc. Upgrading a pc is fairly cheap now, if you can strech the finances youd get more enjoymennt out of it id of thought. But thats my opinion you might just be more casual then me on gaming.

:EDIT:

also all games are hosted, tahts not good for fps i wouldn;'t have thought.

All I play on the PC these days is BF2...the hight of system resource use. :p

I've had the console for a while and really like having it, I'm preferring to game on it than on the PC, all games run at their best as soon as I put the disc in and the gamepad is really easy to use. It'll never take over from the PC for FPS games that I really enjoy like CoD4, BF2 and CSS, all those for me have to be on PC.

I do need to invest in a wireless dongle though, then I can have it linked into the TV downstairs instead of stuck up here on my PC's screen.

Don't use my 360 as much now ! mainly use it for DVDs.

Few of my favs are:

Halo 3.
Call of Duty 4.
Mass Effect.
Guitar Hero 3.
Fifa 09.
Assasins Creed.
Gears of War.
Bioshock.

Fable two is sat on my desk, Loved Fable so will get playing Fable 2 soon :)

Fable2
Halo3
Assasins Creed
Call of Duty 4
Oblivion

I would say for now I would choose those 5 over any others.

I have yet to play on Fallout 3 however and that may get a place on that list.

I'd recommend on top of the above:
Guitar Hero3/World Tour/Whatever incarnation -Amazing fun in multiplayer
Overlord - if you like Pikmin but wanted to be more...evil
Eternal Sonata - charming little but very japanese RPG
Force Unleashed - worth a rent if you like Star Wars
Dead Space - Resi Evil...in Space.
COD4 - a bit better on PC, but hell arent all FPS?

I didn't enjoyed Test Drive Unlimited. Cars didn't feel connected to the road and the whole game felt a bit aimless.

COD4 is the definite must have. Hitman: Blood Money is a cracking wee game and you'll be able to pick it up for peanuts now. Forza Motorsport 2 is the best racing sim on the 360, can pick it up for pennies now too.

I'll grab PRG3 then as I love racing games and PGR4 has been good fun so far, I'll also get GRAW...but 1 or 2? I've liked the TC:RB6 games, and GRAW is similar isn't it?

I'm going to be upgrading from the current xbox (Halo Edition) to an Elite in a week or so and have seen I can get it with Fallout3 and FableII for £249.99 which seems good as just the console would be £219.99 and then the other games would be £39.99 each. I'm not sure I'll be a fan out Fable2, but it does look like a promising game and I do like to expand my gaming horizons, seems silly only play what I know and like. :)

So far ordered new games are;
Burnout Paradise - if I can find it at a decent price
PGR3
The Darkness

Thinking about games are;
Fallout 3 - With Elite
Fable II - With Elite
Mirror's Edge - very tempted to pre-order this
GRAW 1/2

All of those are in addition to the ones I've stated in the OP...that little lot should keep me going for a couple of months...still will take more suggestions in though. :D

Forza 2
PGR 4
COD 4
Fable 2
Fallout 3
Fifa 09
Halo 3
GTA 4
Virtua Tennis 3
Burnout Paradise
Condemned
Mass Effect
Bioshock

Sooo many quality games.. I own all the above as well as a few more and don't find enough time to play them :(

I say the same thing to everyone else who has a load of unplayed games - play what you have first. If you have too many games you get tempted to jump between them, etc, and never really fully enjoy them.

Well, this is how it turns out for me anyway. If you see a game at a great price, then sure, pick it up (but only a really great price). Otherwise you might land up building this collection of games and paying far more for them than if you bought them a few months down the line when they are much cheaper.

To some extent I agree, when I first get games I will jump about a bit, testing them out, but then I will play through them till either they get infuriating to play and so boring, or I've completed them...and it sucks when you complete a game and have nothing to go on to. I just want a big stack I can slowly work my way through. :)
