Looking through my list this thread is a bit premature, all the games are out from now til xmas. I've hardly played anything decent this year.

Worst

PES2009 Still lags and is light years behind the competition sadly.

My personal favourites of this year (judged on play time, enjoyment and enjoyment with friends on games evenings).

Best
Fallout 3 - Oblivion x2 with guns. Love it, can't wait for the modders to do their thing. Shame about no co-op (again!)
Fable 2 - Everything and anything they/he promised is there, for me anyway. Can't seem to leave it alone.
Viking: Battle for Asgard - Didn't put this down for about 3 weeks solid, played it through 3 times before having to send it back :(

Worst
MGS4 - If it wasn't for the (over)hype, it would've been ignored & not be here. 43 minutes before I saw my first enemy is not 'art' it's 'boring'
CoD: WaW - It really is just CoD4, but with bad animations. Blatant cash in on CoD4's success. Friends list is nice though...shame everyone uses xfire already.
FarCry 2 - Respawning, made-out-of-metal enemies. Fantastic looking & great performance game ruined by a few major design flaws.
Spore - EA/Maxis carried The Sims mentality over, 2 expansion packs announced with 3 weeks of release. Could've been epic with multiplayer.
Conflict: Denied Ops - First couple of games in the franchise were fantastic. This was not.

Warhead certainly isn't one of the worst games, or even a bad game by any measure. It's good, but far too short for it to make it onto my 'Best of' list
 
I don't buy enough games for these threads, so I apologise for some as it's only going on games I've played this year

Cod 5 beta- Really enjoyed it
FIFA 09 - really flawed but keeps me playing

It in no way warrants 'worst of' though. Maybe for the disgruntled guys who can't afford a PC to run it, but that's a weak excuse. Warhead has depth and gameplay that trumps the majority of the 'best of' games, despite its relatively short length (of which games like MGS4 - I'm looking at you, Big Boss rank runs - are even shorter).

It's a console oriented forum, so I'm not expecting people to understand or even experience it. Bit of a shame really.

Halo 3 was 2007 so doesn't really apply.

I'm sorry but I thought Crysis is way over rated. The game just isn't fun. My rig is capable of running warhead with all the settings at enthusiasts at 1024 res but with no AA and I get a good 30fps through out.

:confused: This is all just personal opinions. You may like a game that I don't and vice versa. Does it really matter if I don't like a game you do? If I don't have fun with a game that I played, then I don't play it or consider it a good game. Its as easy as that.

Just because a game is considered good by most, doesn't mean everyone has to like it too.
 
are we talking worst games or biggest disappointments?


*as obviously games like mgs4 and gta4 are nowhere near a selection of 'worst' games but i found themn highly disappointing in comparison to expectations.
